After the ride on the body conveyor belt,,,,stuck!!!

After the ride in where your weapons are detected I was left with none and running around being fired apon and finaly killed after making it up the elevator. Tried it again by re-entering the save and this time I had the gravity gun and was able to kill eveyone but when I came to the section where you have to jump a small fence rail in a narrow corridor before going up in the lift my jump won't work so I am stuck by a pathetic small barrier, regardless of settings !!!

This is a buggy game. Several times I was stuck not because I could't figure out the puzzle, but because the game allowed me to go the wrong way into a different level resulting in no way through [no puzzle, just impossible].You start asking yourself, am I stuck or has the game made me stuck with no solution?
 
I'm not exactly sure where you are or what you're talking about.

Care to grant us with a screenshot of your location?

By the way, I would imagine it's you, not the game.
 
This has been discussed before. I had no problems there but a lot of ppl had the same problem. Do a search, there is a way to jump it even if you get stuck. Don't remember the solution as I never got stuck there.
 
I got stuck there aswell, my jump key didn't work. I just noclipped past the barrier and then hey presto my jump worked.
 
The section I'm in is well advanced in the game and must be close to the finish. If you have made it this far [the section just past the main 'strider' shoot out] you will know exactly where I am.

Simple.....I press the 'jump' button and nothing happens.

If I go back to the save where I have no gravity gun the jump works fine [but without any weapons I die]. Big choice between 2 evils. I'm stuck by a small fence rail with nowhere to go because I can't jump, or I can jump but have no weapon [and dead very quickly].

try binding jump to space again and if all else fails just noclip.

I'd love to know how to.... 'noclipped past the barrier' . That would do me fine thanks !!!
 
Geez, valve should really fix this... I've seen WAY to many threads about this... anyway, open the console (enable it in options>keyboard>advanced) with ~ and type in noclip. This means that there is no clipping (you fly through everything including walls) so you go the the place you want then type it in again to turn it off.

Thanks for that, but just tried it and it achieved zero. Still can't get past the small rail barrier.

Looks like the end of the game for me.

Slack......7 years of development and several of hype and a very unsatisfiying experience for the money. Never buy a game until it has been out a few weeks and a patch is available to fix most [all?] of the bugs will be my purchasing principle from now on.

Obviously you did it wrongly, because you can't try it and achieve nothing. if you noclip, you noclip. if you didn't, you did something horribly wrong.
 
LOL, I had this too, be a little creative, you can EASILY do it without cheating or going back to an old save. That's all I've got to say.
 
I had the same problem but I didn't know any console commands at the time so I had to revert back to an old save.

It worked the second time around but I don't know why, apart from the first time I had my weapons taken I was trying to move but the second time I stayed still. I'm not sure if it was just a coincidence but my jump worked anyway.
 
I wouldn't call myself a 'quitter'.

I was in my late 20's when 'Space Invaders' first came out [53yrs. old now] as an arcade game and there was no such thing as a computer 'mouse' or home computers either for that matter. My first 'gaming experience' in my early teens cost 2 pennies and was called a pinball machine.

I guess youngster that qualifies me as a non-quitter of games. Perhaps I have just eased up at banging my head against a wall nowdays and am happy to wait for the [inevitable] bug patches instead.

Like not turn on sv_cheats?

Do this:
sv_cheats 1
noclip
*Move to where you are going*
noclip
sv_cheats 0
 
(enable it in options>keyboard>advanced) with ~ and type in noclip. This means that there is no clipping (you fly through everything including walls).

I did the above but after 'advances there is 2 options you can tick[only]:
1. rapid weapon change
2. ~

I can't 'type' noclip anywhere. It's a tick option not a type option and then press apply. There is no type option [?]. Nothing happens.
 
I had this problem, i just restarted the level and i could jump again.

You must press the key you just ticked ( Can't find it in my Finnish keyboard... ah..) , that opens the console where you can type the cheat.
 
I guess since your 13 yrs my senior that would make me a youngster to you, However you should have the fortitude to keep moving forward and not let a simple game whoop your ass!

Been there done that!

Back in the day when you walked to school up hill both ways in 2 ft of snow! I think you can work your way around a simple railing in a silly game! Once you do I guarantee you don't jump that railing again!

step-by-step instructions

1: enable the developer console by pressing "ESC" to get to the menu, then selecting "options>keyboard>advanced>enable developer console" (ie tick the box and press "apply")

2: exit the menu by pressing "ESC" - go back to the game. press the "~" key. this should open the developer console. press "~" again and the console should close and take u back to the game. if this doesn't work u did something wrong in step 1.

3: open the console with "~"

4: type "sv_cheats 1" without the quotes and press enter. this enables cheats

5: type "noclip" without the quotes and press enter. this enables noclip mode where u can walk thru walls. the console should print "noclip ON" when u do it.

6: press "~" again to exit the console and return to the game. walk thru the wall u are stuck behind.

7: open the console again with "~"

8: type "noclip" without the quotes and press enter. this turns off noclip mode. the console should print "noclip OFF"

9: type "sv_cheats 0" without the quotes and press enter. this disables cheats

10: exit the console with "~" and return to your game.
 
this was easy,
Ok, you see the thing with the orbs, well, it is what you call the energy source for the gate, E N E R G Y S O U R C E, ok? ok.
you grab them with you phsygun, grab all of them, and then the gate turns off, simpler then killing a combine with a crowbar

WHAT? thats nothing to do with this? theres not even a crowbar on the last level...
By the way to bring the console down the '~' is located under the Escape (ESC) key...if thats your problem
 
i had the same problem - not being able to jump after weapons confiscated.

noclipping thru the fence didn't fix it.

opening options and rebinding my jump key did.
