Just got my copy of PC Gamer, and on the Next Month page it states they will be reviewing Half life 2 Aftermath, the magazines out November 24th.

Would that be steam only, and then the retail comes a week later. Or is it retail and steam at the same time?? (I'm planning my xmas gifts/wishes)

Probably only steam.. then retail a few weeks or so later. That's just how they been planning things. Could be wrong.

DoD:S was out in stores like 2 days after the Steam release (bundled with CS:S) so I guess we're to assume it will be the same case with Aftermath.

Well, this is kickass. Do subscribers get the mag earlier?

woo :D
hopefully both retail and Steam versions are available the same day as i cannot purchase my copy off Steam.

I hope that the retail doesn't come out too much after and that there aren't too many updates.

Seasonal retail packs for the episodic content is what Valve said they were planning.

Finally!

Now they better keep their release date on time! I miss you aftermath...

i hope they wont show the whole game in thr review.(they kinda did that with hl2) -_-

Seem to remember them keeping the wording pretty neat in both gamer and zone; did show a picture of the dark fusion explosion tho' :|

When I get the review I will post a summary (in spoiler tags) and the score plus a pic or two, as ill get it a few days early

I just subscribed to PC Gamer a month ago but I've been reading it for a while. They sometimes say 'review' even when the game hasn't come out yet. Quake 3 for instance, they rated it and everything before the game was even released. All I'm saying is that it doesn't mean it will be out by then. We already know it's coming soon so it's not much of a surprise.

i have the new issue and no where in the whole issue does it say that they are gonna review aftermath...........they said they would review COD2 next month but nothing about Aftermath.............or maybe ur talking about the UK version?

Uhhh yeah, reviews tend to come out before the game is released. Like, say, Half-life 2. Its just confirmation that the game is finished, and no more tweaking will be needed therefore - closer to release.

W00t, Excellent news, i usually get PC Gamer, i think i'll skip this issue though so it's nice and fresh and all new to me when AM is actually released

I dunno, I think Valve did a pretty good job of showing us far more than necessary for HL2. The only location we hadn't seen from screens, videos, etc. (even before reviews) was inside the Citadel, which I thought was a real shame after all their talk of "We don't like it when we see everything about a game before we play it because of the hype".

I'm guessing Christmasish time. Like the week before Xmas or later.
Alas no - they already said sometime nearer February/March, I believe. Which is a bummer.

didnt i read recently that AM wont be released until at least early next year?

hmm, well this thread sucks as i didnt look at the date of the first post

crap...valve has let us down again (release date wise) :(

not a sausage. They did include it in the "its all over" back page as one of the games of 2006 tho

No sorry, but when I made this thread it looked like it was still this year.

Nothing at all about Aftermath, damn...

It was just an estimate... PCGamer constantly get dates wrong.
