Personally, I've never seen anything particularly chivalrous in a group of mounted men in armour barelling through a crowd of poorly-armed peasants and cutting them down in clouds of blood - but perhaps that's just me. In Age of Chivalry, players will choose their class and their weapon before charging out to meet their foe on the field of battle, and fight them with pointy sharp metal things.[br]

[br]Team Chivalry (as they are known) are now showing their mod in motion at the AoC website, so click here to view the video (more mirrors are available on their website). In addition, PlanetHalfLife has conducted an interview with the team - read it here.

If I had time to download this before sleep I'd watch it...

Looking forward to it regardless, will watch after school tommorw

looks interesting... but how are guys with swords sposed to have a chance against people firing arrows at them? lol

Just as in CSS, what do you do when you have only a knife left and are facing a guy with a Deagle? Yet sometimes, the knife guy still wins ;)

I thought the video was cool, and their normal mapped 1st person arms/weapons looked sweet. Some of the animations look a bit rigid though. And it's brave of them to try and get swordplay in a game, cause i bet it's one hard task to achieve, and they did it imHo pretty cool. Nice work!

yup no doubt they did a good job with the swords coding. i'd like to play as a swordsman just for the hell of slashing away with swords! ;) lol

but i just get an inkling that the game might be a bit unbalanced and it could end up with everyone using arrows cos they keep on getting shot down from long range when they have swords ;)

hmm, the movement looks rediculous, the players are in heavy armour, they should plod.

Also would be interesting if swordsmen (in armour) have more resistance to arrows, could sprint (charge) a short way, would be useful against crossbow men. Also crossbow men should have a really long reload time, to rewind the bow.

Feck. Chivelry.

It's because I report to a guy named 'Chivelry' in World of Warcraft, so it is.

Okay, the trailer looks cool, but I better hope they improved Source's netcode. Melee fights in multiplayer = lag.

Sulkdodds: I fixed your...indiscretions.

Some agents will attend you shortly for your re-education.

Well-made platemail distributes the weight pretty well. You can move a lot nimbler than you would expect in it.

Chainmail, however, is a bitch on the shoulders.

The bow seems to break through armor too easily, especially then he fired at the dude's torso. Id expect the arrow to either bounce off or for the guy to only be hurt.

Lawyer's right, chainmail spreads well, but will annihilate your shoulders in a holocaust of chafing. Knights could move quite fast, but this might just turn into your standard FPS with arrows replacing bullets. Unless of course, they could have it where arrows stop/glance off/splinter on the enemy's armor/shield.

Arrows should really deflect based on the angle they're flying at relative to the armour. With chainmail, you're pretty screwed, but with plate, it tends to bounce off at most angles (hence the reason plate has funny angles hammered into it).

There is actually a rather sad/hilarious story about a knight who took an arrow to the chest. It ricocheted off his masterfully crafted armor and went through the unprotected throat of the guy standing next to him.

How do you know all of this?

I read that as 'Age of Chavalry' ... dear god, what a mod that would be.

Good to see that blocking is also implemented, looking forward to this one to.
