There has not been much talk about it here, so I though I might start a thread about it :)

Anyway, here's their homepage: http://www.ageofempires3.com/

If you look at Civilizations: http://www.ageofempires3.com/Civilizations/Default.aspx , you'll see that 6 of the 8 civilizations are Spain, Britain, France, Portugal, Holland and Germany. The other two are not official yet. Any thoughts of what they might be? Sweden? Denmark? Italy? Although none of those countries were big colonial powers on the 17th century, but neither was Germany, but they're still there.

Anyway, this game looks great.

Yep, its my most anticipated game this year. Its shaping up really nice.

Germany was a pretty big colonial power, not as big as Britain, Spain, France or Portugal, but they did have colonies in the 19th century, so i presume they would of had them for a fair few years before then.

The only civilisations, apart from what you listed, that i would of thought it might be would be Russia and China.

None of them had colonies in America, and they said that it would only be european powers. And at this time, the 17th century, Germany consisted of many small principalities. It was not until they united in the 19th century that they started to get colonies, and those were in Africa, not America. But that doesn't matter much.

EDIT: I was wrong: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_colonization_of_the_Americas

I saw a demo of this played by the one of the dev guys at E3 and it looked absolutely stunning. Its definitely one to look out for.

Russia had some colonies in California and Alaska (I think). Also, it was announced that the Ottoman empire would be playable (even though they never went to the America) based on the fact that they could have gone to America.

Hell, I could've gone to America too, but that doesn't mean I'm a superpower. You're right about Russia, but the ones that colonized Alaska, Canada and parts of California were hardly Europeans...

I remember reding somewhere that Russia would be one of the civs anyway.

I thought Germany was known as the Habsburg Empire then.
