i've been surfing on the net with no problem today then suddenly the internet wouldn't work
the modem is dynalink rta1335 and there is nothing wrong with it since I'm using it right now.
i tried using ie, firefox and oprah but none of them worked. the funny thing is, this occurred while i was using the internet. i think the whole internet connection is dead. the computer with the problem is connected to the modem I'm using now (its a router). is it possible that my computer got hacked?? I dunno whats going on... please help

thanks in advance

See theres your problem, Oprah isn't a good browser, hell I don't even care for her tv show....

Nah I dunno man? Internet connectivity can be spotty at times, just keep an eye on things, get a firewall and scanner up and going, and make sure there isn't any weird traffic...

Hahahha! Yeah, I was going to joke on that one too. Very very funny stuff..the Oprah Browser--it wouldn't surprise me at all. What would surprise me is if she came out and said she was straight. :cheese:

Seriously though, it looks like its time to start sniffing your own packets longhorn.

Personally, I would grab whatever data that is of the utmost importance and then reformat. No sense in messing around, but I doubt you were hacked. Its probably just some snafu with your ISP. Mine f|_|cks up some of the time too and it sucks, but hey, what can you do?

A few questions:

1) is this a wireless connection?
2) is the connection icon in systray showing a red cross?
3) is your computer the only computer in the household connected to da intarweb?

i highly doubt you have been hacked. i mean havent you tried calling the isp company or have you messed around with some router settings?

Yeah, you haven't been hacked

Its the ISP

I love how people assume that when anything goes wrong with their computers - they've obviously been hacked.

Very very few viruses disable your connection like that. You just need to reboot your comp. If that doesn't work un plug the power from your modem(not your comp one) or call your ISP and ask WTF is up.

Also try to do repair connection in the network connections panel.

If you were hacked, you would try to get on the web, and then it would say DENIED!!!!!!! HA HA HA.

But seeing as how that didn't happen, you probably aren't hacked. My internet f*ks up all the time, and it's usually problems with the old wires running through the house, so don't worry, you haven't been hacked. I once got a virus on my comp, but I use "System Recovery" and the virus was gone.

Heh, this kinda thing happened to me the other day. Weird thing was, steam and xfire and stuff would connect, but my browsers wouldn't connect to any websites...except Halflife2.net. Yes, no site would work except halflife2.net. I thought hl2.net was taking over or something...but then I messaged dog-- (aka Cave Canem) on xfire, and I eventually concluded that it was all his fault. He said he was DLing a bunch of stuff, and then he stopped, and my internet started working! Stupid dog--, slowing down the rest of the world's internet with his old dial-up :P

This is exactly what happend to me once. It was a huge, horrible bad bad virus in my Router. And it kept coming back. We had to do an entire reformat to fix it.
