AHAHAHA I got Id'd for Doom3

Yeah, I see the play on words and smile, cause if I didn't smile, the store clerk would of eaten my copy of doom 3.

Freaking Hell, I'm 23, I look old for my age, I haven't shaved for 2 days and am sporting a nice mini beard, and I haven't been Id'd for buying Alcohol ever. Yet its 'policy' to Id everyone for games?

To top it all off I payed for the game with a credit card, which I'm pritty sure you have to be 18 to own.

Really have urge to swear...

uh, point of this thread.... well anyone else get Id'd while buying this game?

I'm 22 but look quite a bit younger. But I didn't get check for ID at all.
 
The age is 17. I am 17 and nobody cared. It isn't really up to store policy as much as it counts on how anal the clerk is.
 
After the recent over the top reaction from the media, what did you expect?

i might do so today... or get an adult to go out and buy it for me. coz im 15 and i look 13 or something.

You can bet on it. There are no restriction what so ever on either games or movies. I can very well by porn in the greatest department store or hypermarket chain here.
 
I orderd mine from a store that mainly sell stuff on the web but also in their one store + office + warehouse, which was very close to my house, but they are moving today and the entire weekend to a new location thats like 4 times bigger than this one. So they mailed it to me free of charge, just gotta pick it up at the post office now.
 
heh, if more stores start having policies like that then gamers could give the argument that people are treating games worse than alcohal.
 
I have never been ID'ed for purchasing games....heck I've been purchasing beer since I was six :P
 
I remember going to buy Halo with my mom when I was like 13 and the guy at the counter asked, "Are you sure you wanna buy this game for your son? It has an M rating for violence, blood, etc...."
Argghh.
 
Well the thing that got me was I don't acutally carry any id on me (no photo id at least) as I haven't got a driving licence. So I might of had to go to another store to get the game.

That would of made me very very very very uber angry. Hell on Earth would of occured :)

I was id's for GTA2 (I think it was GTA2, it was an 18 anyway). But I was actually younger than 18 and my mum was with me. At GAME before they hired this recent batch of morons, they used to be quite responsible really. They would ID people who genuinly didn't look old enough, but would always be polite about it.

rofl GAME have really got strict on their id's atm. just got doom 3 today, and for the first time ever, i was asked 'have you got any id?...its just that there are people out there to get us if ya know what i mean' i just had to laugh.

im 17 but have a UCAS card (university/course advice/financial advice etc), which had my dob on it. mine is on the 25th sep, and i got doom 3 on the 13th aug!!! lol, i wasnt actually legally aloud to buy it :E
 
Nope I didn't get ID'd today either. I look younger than 18 (I think?) & have some sort of mini-beard too. But my EB Games store never checks for ID (unless you buy with a credit card of course). Because they know that the ages mentioned on the game box are just recommendations. They don't HAVE to use them if they don't want to.
 
I'm 21, and I've been playing computer games since I was 14 years old and never have been carded when buying a video game.

If you look 25 or under you are suppose to be IDed.
 
Never ben ID'ed here. Not for games or faqs, could probarly get porn too if I wanted :)

Didn't read all the posts but is it really that difficult to pull out your id and show it to them? Anyways in many stores it's the law to check and employees can get fired if they don't.
 
... and, to the original poster, a lot of places now ask for your ID if you buy anything with a credit card because of the publicity that identity theft has been getting recently.
 
I got asked for ID when I went in to buy it as well.
 
i've never been IDed trying to buy a game. When i was down in the states i was IDed cause i was buying a rated R movie

i got it too..


btw, was i the only one that they offered Sports Illustrated or Entertainment Weekly to? i asked someone else that lives in cali and the same thing happened.. i was like... do i LOOK like i read sports illustrated or entertainment weekly?

I don't think that's the guidelines in the UK. Its certainly not what I was told when I was working bars.

Actually Doom3 has BBFC censorship. Which makes it illegal to sell to anyone under the age. You see it on a few so called realistic games (like manhunt)
 
My 12 year old friend to FutureShop and bought Grand Theft Auto without having an adult around all by himself.

Funny thing happened at EBgames thought.
My friend went to Ebgames and tried to buy GTA and it went something like this:

Clerk: Are you 17?
Friend:...Yes...
Clerk: Get out! And next time, come back with an adult.
