Ahmadinejad speaking in front of the UN earlier yesterday. Make sure you listen to his whole speech (all of the videos).

In the first video at the end there, sounds like a deep, deep message when he stated "otherwise God's hand of power will emerge from the sleeve of the oppressed nations, and will make your life difficult, and put an end to your hegemony."

His posture and character changes dramatically (a complete change in character compared to the rest of the interview), he looks at the camera and smiles (he didn't do that in the whole interview), when he explains whether or not American's and our allies are in danger of a nuclear strike from Iran - He parades around the answer and says that it's "against their religion" to use nuclear bombs (ya, right).

To use a nuclear weapon against the US wouldn't he first have to obtain a nuclear weapon? Or is there some kind of nuclear walmart he can get one from?

Apparently so. Clearly the key is not to listen to what someone says, but listen to what they are not saying it seems. Sure they might be talking about the exchange rates on cats & dogs, but in reality they are saying 'I'm going to slit your childrens throats'. It's just like 'They Live' :dozey:

Well that is a bold supposition indeed. Any particular evidence to base it on? The US Government has been meddling in the affairs of foreign powers non-stop for as long as anyone on these boards has lived, so why would there be an end to my concerns? But to assume as a result I hate America as a nation, or as a people is an absurdity.

Personally I feel sorry for most Americans because to paraphrase GSUB dead flags blues most of them are unknowingly trapped in the belly of this horrible machine, and the machine is bleeding to death. Root cause of the problem? Unsustainable living practices on a massive scale centred around a transportation infrastructure that will not survive another 50 years, and a government unable and unwilling to tackle the problem constructively, but rather intent of painting over the rust and pretending all is well, no matter what the cost to anyone else.

In a thousand years people will look back at the way we have lived today and marvel at the absurdities of our existence, much as we marvel at the insanity of medieval times.

There is no want to it, it's just the way of things. All empires collapse eventually, and we are privileged enough to be able to witness the gradual implosion of this particular one. You've a political system where in both candidates are effectively both sides of the same coin and almost everyone in positions of authority has special interests beyond the common good. When corruption is the norm where can you go but down?

A few billion years of human evolution and your fortunate enough to come into existence at the very cusp of the death throes of an Empire? Yes it is a privilege in the historical sense.

Anyways ... Ahmadinejad can no more call the obvious then a 'made for Television Sports Caster.' His wisdom on the entire situation is based purely on what the Western Tabloids banter off about; and he is no more aware of our economic situation ironically, then our own President is.

The only thing he's doing is appropriately choosing his words for nothing more dubious then political foreboding and religious ditto talk. Many westerners do not credit the Middle East for ever using the tools of deception and guile appropriately, but I understand exactly what he's doing; because his public presence in the United States is nothing more 'important' then Matt Damon's public announcement of his personally being afraid of Senator Palin becoming McCain's VP Pick, yet it's the weight of this Iranian PM religious-gobbley-gook that sticks to us like glue, because we've got this thing for turning mediocre messiah complex bound religious leader's into celeberties (or Presidents for that matter.)

He's also linking his toe-in-step extremist rhetoric with all of the other asundry quotes he's been stacking, forcing America and everyone else in its party to take 2008+ points of damage. Should he be interested in giving us an economic CPR, then please, tell the nice Iranian leader to look at America's Economic situation from the Dustbowl to World War 2, and pick a fight.

War's are great ways to revive a nations economy; the difficulty with the Iraq war is its cost (which could arguabley be anything more then an armored jacket.) However, if everyones making bombs, and the demand for bombs increases, with so much supply and demand, prices will inevitabley drop. Plus, hey! Factory Jobs takes the unemployement away.

... Really, get optimistic people. Ahmadinejad is banking his statements on a future thats left for tomorrow; it's nethire bleak or bright, but we can choose to make it better. I'll leave the Nihilist to whine about humanity not mattering to contribute anything, nethire to our indecisiveness or survival as a country; knowing full well that I tried and will continue to try. As far as I'm concerned, he can suck Kerberos's flesh flute because the only value to his public appearances thus far is his plausible genetic link to Mama Luigi.
