AI in half life 1 and 2

Hi all,

Not sure if i should post here so i've posted in 2 places...

Basically i have been given an AI paper i have to do on game development. I was considering doing it on the Half Life 1 and 2. My main question is can any1 point me in the direction of resources on artifical intelligence for half life 1 and half life 2 in quite a lot of detail. Also i would like to demonstrate maybe by developing levels & adding bots for both of the 2 games, and show how the game has come on over the last 6 years.

Is all this feasible? Over will it take me too long to work out how to develop levels and add bots. Also how easy is it to demonstrate basic levels of AI for the 2 games.

Wow, you've let yourself into a doozey. There's one hell of alot of AI to go through - trust me, I've been through the HL1 AI several times, and I still don't know the ins and outs!

Well if you can read C++, then download the HL1 sdk, and then use the Source SDK "Create a Mod" tool to get the Source SDK files.

Have a hunt through them and you'll quickly find .cpp files for the various enemies, squad functions and other stuff. Each AI file refers to a bunch of other AI related file, so once you've found one you can find the rest.
