So I really wanna get into airsoft, but I've never played before. Basically, what i wanna know is how to get started and what kit to buy etc.

Is it easier to start out with a pistol or a cheap SMG, or should I go all out and get a decent rifle? Should I buy all the gear and accessories too?

I was thinking about getting an airsoft gun from www.wolfarmouries.co.uk , but do you guys know of any better shops in the UK? Anyway, I need ideas for what gun I should start out with :)

PS; Heres a kickass video (168mb) of a fight at a place called Ground Zero in Bournemouth, including cool night footage. - You need winrar to unzip it.

I'd advise borrowing a stock weapon from whatever airsoft place since they'll usually have a load of guns they lend to people. If you realise you love airsoft at that point, then buy an expensive gun.

airsoft is so cheap (ie crap). play paintball for god sake, its much more fun!!

For your first gun I'd reccomend getting a spring pistol or one of the rather crappy (but fun nontheless) mini-electrics. Both are around $20, which is dirt cheap for airsoft guns. After you get the feel for airsoft, the UTG mp5 AEG is a good middle-priced gun for skirmeshes at around $80-$100.

The only other things you need for airsofting are bb's (make sure you get at least decent quality ones or else they could damage your gun) and some kind of eye protection (saftey goggles or a full face-mask work best).

Also, look here for better information. :)

I heard that if you always fire it one by one (so not automatic) it should last 500-1000 shots (1000 is a lot though)

Oh god no! That has got to be the shittiest airsoft gun you can buy. My reccomendations: Dont buy crappy mini electrics or "full size low cost" AEGs for your first gun. Get a nice spring gun, and if you like airsoft you can buy a nice Tokyo Marui AEG later on. UTG is a new brand to the market and somehow is making really good spring guns for pretty damn cheap!

P.S.(to jmjneary) If your gas pistol has a metal slide it may get around 1000 shots out of one green gas tank. If its just ABS plastic it may get around 1500. As for canadian airsoft sites http://www.007airsoft.com/ http://www.atlanticarmory.com/ http://www.doubleedgeairsoft.com/ http://www.tigertactical.com/

Edit: Wow.....all the airsoft guns on that hobbytron site are pieces of shit. lol

my advice to you is save up for a decent automatic electric rifle. check ebay for tokyo marui ones. its better to go for quality now, rather than waste money on the cheaper pumps which will only disappoint you and end up wasting your money. trust me, you will absolutely love a TM AEG.

i agree with my brother on this one, we play airsoft about 1 everyother week and we all have tokyo maruis and and they are definatly worth it...too bad my ak is broke right now

EDIT: if you are looking at the UTG mp5, get it!!!!!! my friends have 2 of them and they are exact tokyo marui replicas. For $100 you can get this high quality mp5 AEG, 2 highcap mags, sling, and a battery.

Airsoft is only crap if you buy crap. Buy Tokyo Marui for AEG's (Automatic Electric Guns.) They're extremely high quality and look and feel real. If you buy a piece of crap you probably won't have a very high opinion of airsoft.

Anyway, to answer the original poster's question. I would either rent an AEG if possible, or buy a GBB (Gas Blowback Gun) made by either KSC, Tokyo Marui, or Western Arms to start with. KSC guns are very economincal, realistic, and powerful, TM may be a little prettier but not as reliable, and WA's guns are art, but don't have much power :) My personal favorite is the KSC Glock 19. Very powerful, very accurate, very realistic, very economical, very loud...very fun.

I would probably suggest buying from a Hong Kong shop. Their prices are way cheaper (shipping is expensive, but they still end up cheaper) and have the best service (usually.)

Here are a few sites:
http://www.wgcshop.com
http://www.redwolfairsoft.com
http://www.dentrinityshop.com

I've played both paintball and airsoft, and greatly prefer airsoft. Just make sure you get something of quality and find a good group to play with

I have a ICS M4. It's all metal, very solid. Expensive though.

For beginners buy a pump rifle, For an experianced beginner (Between beginner and average) Buy a gas rifle, Advanced people should buy pistols and little cruddy smgs, Experts should buy shotguns, Good smgs.

I have a rifle with a scope, I bought darts, So I shoot darts at peiced of wood that I drew stuff on, Great Fun To Be had regardless of what gun you buy!

First of all I would like to say that I am a airsofter person. I have 4 aeg which of is all tokyo marui. I have a sig 552, m4a, p90, g35. They are all great guns. I got all my guns from precisionairsoft.com, they are a great people to buy from.

Airsoft will cost u a bit starting out, about 300, but compared to paintball its alot cheaper. Let me start out by saying this, tokyo marui is know to be one of the best manufactors of airsoft, that and ics but i perfer toyko marui. I ahve to say if you want to be a hardcore paintballer a paintball will cost you 800+ and that just for the gun. Airsoft is cheap, bb for airsoft is cheap, but I have to warn u i never used the bb's from walmart and etc. I allways by grade a bb's from that website or somewhere else. A bag of 3000 bbs will cost you 15 bucks, not that much, and thats all u ever need other then the gun and a batterypack. I personally was a paintballer, I really didn't enjoy it because its a closer combat game and more fast past and not as accurate. A airsoft gun is more for the slow pace, and more realistic kind of gameplay, because if you spotted your most likely going to be hit cause they are very very accurate.

I'd say they hurt just as much as paintball if not less. You can shoot accuratly within 4 inches about 50 yards away if you have the hop up accurate. You can buy upgrade upp to 500 fps but I highly recomend you don't because it could peirce googles. When you buy a aeg its usely at about 285 fps to 305 fps, and the average upgrade is usually 350 for aeg, and 400 for aeg sniper. Personally i love the game, an di know im going to be bash from paintballers, but give it a try and you will love it, also one more thing, play with honest people.

Thanks guys, good advice. :D

One question though:
P90 or AK 47 Spetsnaz (both by Tokyo Marui)

Depends what you want to play. P90 is good for CQB, AK for woodland. Either will work ok in either, its more about size and barrel length, and the AK is a little more accurate. Also, the AK takes a large batt, where the p90 takes a mini.

Oh yeah, and the AK mags don't suck...

Shame this sport is illegal in Australia.

Looks like i'll get the P90 (If I like the sport :P ) as it's 10 quid cheaper and has good reviews.

my friend has a spetsnaz and it is a solid rifle. i cant speak for the p90.

And if you really like it, come over to Belgium and buy it here in rl :p

Bah too expensive! If it werent for the price tag and the bullets being classified as "armor piercing" rendering them illegal, id buy one :P

P90's are fairly nice, but I have a few issues with them. The mags are a little goofy, the gun isn't long enough to give you a natural point, and the plastic body looks like...well...shiney plastic :P

Still a nice rifle, but from my experience M4A1's and MP5's (SD5 is my personal preference) are great starter guns.

Good luck deciding Timmy

I just put my airsoft(CA M15A4) up for auction on ebay. I never played so I said f*** it.

Well I might as well tell you guys how much I have to spend :)

I have a budget of £300 max, thats including BBs, a charger and a battery, and extra mags, and of course the AEG.

I want to purchase an AEG off www.zerooneairsoft.com as they seem the best around and their website is nice and simple :P

So, you guys got any suggestions? :D

I cant seem to find their starter packages, and everything seems way more expensive than zero one airsoft.

edit: nevermind, im being stupid again :(

another edit: How do I find out what they include in their starter packs?

I HIGHLY (VERY HIGHLY) recommend you get a UTG Mp5. The quality is that of Mauri, and they're only about 100 USD. O_o Go for it, you won't be disappointed.

Just go all out and buy a marui. UTG may seem good but im sure time will definately prove that the Maruis are still the best

I love your support there. There's nothing to show that Mauri is better than UTG at this point.

You'll have a tough time killing anybody with one of those airsoft guns. Get a real one.

With 300 you should be able to get almost any Tokyo Marui AEG with a battery, charger, extra mag, etc.

From my experience it mostly comes down to what look and feel you like. My personal favorites of the Tokyo Marui line are the M4A1, M14, G36C, MP5SD5, MP5A4, and the AUG Steyr SRT.

Just get what you think looks cool, has the specs you're looking for (in terms of size, battery size, mag capacity, price, upgradability, etc.) You'll be happy no matter what you get
