Hey, this time the AK looks about 10 times better and I should be done the mesh pretty soon... All I need to add are the details like screws, clip indentations, etc. Poly count so far is 2037

Here's how it looks so far:

always post the triangle count,, I'm guessing it's lower this time around?

Added poly count... It's not lower, it doesn't really matter for me though It's just for fun as usual (mostly cuz I suck too much to join a mod)

2000 isn't bad at all, if you're talking triangles

anyways, I used to think like that too until I really started low poly modelling, there are huge benefits to it

The biggest benefit is that when you have less vertices you do less work to get the shape out of the model, if you start with a dense mesh then it's hard to get the overall shape out of the model down. Also it's easier to UV map a low poly model, much easier,, the polycount in most cases directly affects how much time you'll spend uvmapping

next time, can you make the renders clearer, and closer up, we cant see much from these at all. plus, could you post a wireframe as well, as we only really need an angled render, and a wireframe to give decent crits.

looking at the model, it looks just about the same as your last one, and is still very flat. try rounding off the stock and vary the heights of parts.

Try smoothing off some of the edges abit :) looking good for second atempt

it looks ok but some dude could make the exact same gun in HL for a quarter of the Polys, the FPS view which is what shall be used in game is pretty uninspired, decent textures help make models look great, use the polys for more appropriate details.

Ok, I made it rounder and added some more details. I'll post the wireframe as soon as I optimize it.
