Al Pacino
vs
Robert De Niro

Well who is your favorite.
Reasons can be anything, from better acting, to looks, to how much you like their roles. And it's only between them.

I myself am more of an Al Pacino man. I simply like the roles he played more and how he portrayed his characters.

I think De Niro has been in better movies (only just), but find Pacino to be more likeable, or at least easier to relate to, in his roles.

If pushed i'd say they're both exactly as good as each other :)

I'm a big De Niro fan.
Anything he's in is gold.

The movie I ever kind of liked Pacino in was Scarface.

What about Carlito's Way and the Godfathers?

Awesome movies.

Godfather really wasn't my kind of movie, I thought it was really boring.
But I can appreciate the story it was telling.

Never saw Carlito's Way.

Check it out if you get a chance - it's an excellent movie.

I liked De Niro in Meet the Parents, lol.

Honestly though, I don't think I've actually seen a movie with Al Pacino in it, atleast not right the way through.

You may call me an uncultured swine now D:

De Niro:
Mean Streets
Raging Bull
Taxi Driver
Goodfellas
Casino
Once Upon a Time in America
King of Comedy
Jackie Brown
Ronin
The Good Shepherd (Directed, but small role)
A Bronx Tale
Cape Fear

Pacino:
Serpico
Scarface
Carlito's Way
Dog Day Afternoon
Any Given Sunday
The Insider
Glengarry Glen Ross
Frankie and Johnny
Sea of Love
Donnie Brasco
The Godfather Part I and III

Pacino & De Niro:
The Godfather Part II
Heat

Everyone get to work.

Although, imo, De Niro has had a better career, I have to go with Al Pacino. His performance in Godfather I and II, was just ****ing wow. Loved him in The Insider aswell.

I have yet to see Casino and Once Upon a Time in America. *ahem*

this is seriously tough, i'll never forget de niro for taxi driver, the deer hunter, king of comedy and more, same with pacino for the godfather, dog day afternoon, insomnia(not in the league of the previous two but i really liked it). Alot of de niro's recent roles have been sorta pants tbh though, godsend f.e...

Pacino's the better actor. De Niro seems like he's playing the same person in most of his movies. Pacino pushes himself as an actor more.

I think Pacino is pretty overrated tbh, he's still great though but I wouldn't even say he's better then Gene Hackman.

De Niro all the way, I think my favorite performance by any actor is De niro in raging bull.

De Niro:
Mean Streets
Raging Bull
Taxi Driver
Goodfellas
Casino
Once Upon a Time in America
King of Comedy
Jackie Brown
Ronin
The Good Shepherd (Directed, but small role)
A Bronx Tale
Cape Fear

Don't forget the Deer Hunter, one of his best movies, the Untouchables and even the parents movies( which i know are by no means masterpieces, but they are entertaining enough and show he can vary his work load.)

De Niro for sure. I loved him in Godfather II and Taxi Driver. Pacino is still great, but doesm't come close to De Niro's level.

I would have said Deniro hands down, but I saw Donnie Brasco last night, and although it was a subtle performance, Al blew me away as Lefty. Deniro still seems to have a better track record as Travis Bickle/Jake Lamotta/Vito Corleone/ etc... Al's many fantastic performances are also unforgettable: Michael Corleone/Tony Montana/Serpico etc.

So in short: idk

Al Pacino just because of the godfather and scarface.

I'm gonna go with DeNiro, but its close.

We've seen him crazy (Taxi Driver), we've seen him as a gangster, and we've seen him as a professional (Ronin & The Score). In each its always the subtle little things he does that turns a role into something special.

De Niro - due to three factors; Comedy and Drama, Deer Hunter and Analyze This...

As great as pacino is, if you were to take the godfather's out of his filmography it would be a complete landslide in Deniro's favour. If you take the Godfather part 2 and say...taxi driver out of Deniro's he still compares quite favorably imo.

Personally I think the whole De Niro Vs Pacino greatest actor debate is cliche riddled BS, it's something people believe because the media tells them so incessantly. These are the same people who also try and convince you that Julia Roberts is attractive to men (she looks like a shark...and I've not met a man yet who thinks otherwise). Certainly both of these guys have put in good performances in their time, but let's be honest here, those days are long over with. Good acting is where you see the part not the person.

It couldn't be because such discussions are interesting and generally enjoyable...no ive been brainwashed by the media...yea.

Good acting is where you see the part not the person.
So....which actor has been able to achieve this more?

All in all these discussions are just fun to take part in, yay they're incredibly irrelevant..but enjoyable non the less.

First I've heard of this topic. Obviously they play similar roles, but its not one of those topics you see massive out of control threads about (like Alien 3, Uwe Boll, and the new Star Wars films.)

Hell yeah. I too am a big Al Pacino fan. I think he is one of the greatest actors of all time. I like the different variety of the roles he plays. I mean one minute he is a Miami Druglord, The Next hes a Retired Military officer and then hes Satan. I mean its amazing.

My favorite Al Pacino Flick Is Carlito's Way Followed closely by Scarface.

I just think Pacino does a better job in his movies. Not saying DeNiro is bad, but I just think Pacino does better.
