Just bought all special editions of the Alien movies, even if i own the regular ones on DVD too. However im watching Alien 3 SE now and there are 2 different version of it, alot differs from the orignial release. Pretty cool, for those who have not seen the other one of these i suggest you do if you are a fan of the films.

Hmm, I have the Quadrilogy but haven't watched the different Alien 3 editions on it yet. Think I will now, though.

I have all the regular versions, first version and then i have the SE's the Alien title is all the same but different colors. I dont have the Quadrilogy box but im sure these are the same as inside your box.

What kind of stuff is different? Just added scenes or the story differs etc..?

It's not awful, but I'd say it's average at best. Not particularly interesting, with none of the adenaline horror or action of either of the other two films, unlikeable characters, meh. The very beginning and the very end were done really well, but that was it in my opinion.

It's certainly not the worst of the films, that'd be 4, but it isn't anything special either. The characters were dull, they went back to square one with the Alien and it refused to be scary.

Ripley's haircut also looked rubbish and it shat all over everything the characters in Aliens had worked so hard for in a really mean-spirited way. Yes I'm a big softie.

The "special edition" of Alien 3 is no better than the original; in my opinion, it happens to be a lot worse.

(I quite liked Alien 3)

Yes, normally it would be an average film, but what you have to remember is that it's part of the Alien legacy. Compared to Alien and Aliens? It's terrible. It kills off the great characters that were developed in the second film, thereby scrapping a great oppertunity to delve into Ripley's state of mind. There were so many endless possibilities for Alien 3 - it could have been exceptional. What did they do? Kill everyone except for ripley and stuff her in with a bunch of crappy characters, then just set an alien on them all. WOW! How original.

IMO the the fourth was much better, because it didn't make me want to cry. I mean, even if it wasn't a very good film, at least it didn't mess up the plot.

It made me want to cry, because that humalien thing was just soooooooooo cute! ;(

Alien and Aliens, both are perfect movies. The two last movies were not as good as they should have been, but im glad they exist. Ive heard some rumours that there is one or two new Alien films coming ( except AvP ) anything familiar with this ?

The dialouge in 4 was cringe worthy :P

So was the thirds like.

Yeah, Sigsy wants Ridley and James to direct Alien 5 and 6 respectively. Get the series back to its roots... and stuff.

Back to its roots or make it into shit. By the way who is Sigsy and where can i read about Alien 5 and 6 ?
What could possibly happen in Alien 5 and 6, all i can imagine is huge wars on earth :(

Sigsy = Sigourney Weaver.

There isn;t much to read really. It was one of those tiny side column articles in one of my film mags.

Seeing as how France was destroyed in the 4th, it was the worst of the series.

The dialogue was terrible, human-like alien, and the ripley clone with alien characteristics.

Yeah, It messed up the plot imo.

Uh, no. That didn't happen.

Actually it did, but only in a very later "remastered" version or something.

That means the film is crap, not the Alien plot is messed up. The story took place 200 years later in an iscolated facility in space, for gods sake.

The AvP books I hear are good.

That they are, as are the Darkhorse graphic novels. Bar the 'Aliens Vs Superman' and stuff.

If they were to make another Aliens, it should be about when the Aliens got to Earth and started colonising the areas in cities. It was only a matter of time before the aliens reached earth anyway, some how or another, be it for foolish scientists and next-gen bio-weaponary or something. I haven't read any of the comics/books that show how they get to earth, just ones that show humans living with aliens running the streets and generally messing shit up.

Could you give more detail please cos this sounds pretty unlikely. All that I can imagine was included would be more detail about the ship crashing onto Earth, and that was in the Australian desert, going by the novelisation, not Paris.

In the big box set, they added a whole hour of film to Alien 3.

Wasn't there one that was Alien vs Predator vs Terminator? That really wouldn't work. Story-line wise. Unless it incorporates confusing parallel universes.

It wouldn't surprise me to be fair. I know that there is Predator Vs Batman and stuff out there.

I actually quite liked Alien 3 aside from them killing off a few of the characters, it was a lot more gritty after we just saw a lot of gun fighting in 2, the human-alien thing was quite an interesting concept but from that we got Alien 4 which didn't really fit with any of the films and wasn't really that good aside from having very nice animated aliens and ripley defromed clones, the direction they took the character imho is probably poor, in 3 she was still ripley, in 4 however she was no longer. :x

I have the special edition on DVD... it ends with Ripley and the synth girl pulling themselves out of the rubble of their ship, and looking out onto a sunset. The city they crashed into is completely wrecked... and what's that? An Eiffel tower that's been bent in two :/
