Just looks like Alien Swarm rebuilt. Team 17 just copy it?

Please tell me you're joking.

Perhaps the very opposite. But on their part, not a great time to release it.

I saw this. It seemed very similar, and my first impression was that it was related. Google told me it wasn't. It didn't seem worth it with a free game.

Wikipedia said:
Alien Breed is the first in a series of science fiction computer games played in the form of a top-down shooter for one or two players. It was released in 1991 by Team17 for the Commodore Amiga and later in 1993 by MicroLeague for MS-DOS.
Research is hard, guys.

It's also not as co-op focused like Alien Swarm. AFAIK it has 2-player co-op, but there is a full SP campaign.

Alien Breed was ****ing awesome.

This, however, isn't.

Ah I see, I guess I wasn't paying much attention to the gaming world when I was six years old. I think as far as I had gone was Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt. Well as soon as I get a time machine I'll go back and educate myself in 1991 as to not offend anyone.

Anyways, I dunno how I was supposed to know a game that doesn't have any indications of being a sequel/remake would be older than a game that originally came along 6 years ago... especially when it came out 19 years ago.

...yep

Alien Breed Impact itself has been out longer than Alien Swarm as well.

Actually, Alien Swarm was a mod for UT2004 first. :p

You know what really really surprises me? There are soooo few FPS swarm games. Left 4 Dead executed it so well... and it was so popular... yet I haven't seen a single game of that nature. They've obviously been doing Third Person shooters and hack and slash forever, but there have been very few first person.

I mean granted you get overwhelmed by swarms in first person because you can't see in all directions as you can in a game of this nature, but I think that's part of the fun. I mean I've seen Alien Swarm in first person and it looks pretty neat, but I'm talking a real deal full fledged game like this in first person. Make it happen internet people.

Have you played Firefight in ODST? It's the best example of 'horde' gameplay around.

I'm not a huge Left 4 Dead 1/2 or Alien Swarm guy so I'll try this out. I prefer my games either a little stupider, or a little dumber than L4D/AS--picky little ****er.

Either way these are all just Asteroids with added RPG elements and arbitrary co-op features HALP I'VE FALLEN AND I CAN'T GET UP. I'll stick to my Flashteroids, hmph... cept no MP (other than the standard 2-player per Asteroids 2 arcade machine!).

10 seconds on wikipedia, man. I guarantee it took you longer to type up this thread than it did for me to type "Alien Breed" into a search box.

Probably not considering the that I typed only two sentence fragments under a title.

Besides, what kind of person does research before everything they post? I guess you do. I tend to rely on my own knowledge and ask questions about things that I don't know instead of trying to look like a smart ass every time I make any comment.
