All characters in the game speak Mandarin and their mouth won't move when they speak.

I bought a new copy of Half-Life 2 recently and I installed it and played it. The game works fine, but all the characters in the game speak Mandarin and their mouth won't move when they speak. I want to play the game where the characters speak English, not Mandarin. Is there a way to solve this problem?:)
 
Probably you've somehow installed it in Mandarin.
Usually the .wav files of speaking are linked to the characters mouth movements, but maybe if they're corrupted that's why they're in Mandarin, and why the characters don't move they're mouths. Re-install?
 
Where did you purchase your copy of Half-Life 2?

Probably pirated I think. I don't think Valve has done something as stupid as that.

I've heard of the mouths-not-moving issue before, as a legitimate bug. Not sure about the Mandarin though. :p

We all know that to have a legit vesion of HL2, you MUST have it on Steam. Yet he is always trying to avoid using Steam to fix / add things to HL2, because he has an illegally downloaded version - a Chinese one at that- ROFLMAO. Idiot.
 
Someone please close this thread, it's offensive to Chinese people. I'm shocked that the Admins would allow it.

Err... how exactly do you figure that? Some retard downloaded an illegal copy of HL2, in a language that he doesn't speak, and then expected help with it here. No-one is blaming or mocking the Chinese people for his stupidity. It doesn't even matter what language his version is in, it's enough that he can't understand it. Besides, no-one has even mentioned ANYTHING bad about Chinese in here. So what is your problem with it??? I hope you are joking, but if you are, please get better at it.

If anything, this thread should be locked for the piracy reason, not the Chinese factor. That would just be racist against Chinese. But I hope it stays open a little longer before thread lock and thread-starter ban for piracy, because I want to see just how stupid this guy is.

This is why! People pretending to speak Mandarin when they have no idea. It's offensive to impersonate the sounds without knowing what they mean. It's like Dora in Finding Nemo making the sounds of a whale whilst talking English.

1. You would read it in chinese, not dialect.
2. ITS SO FRIGGIN HARD TO FIND, i dont have the chinese star software and character map batang che is going to kill me.

If you weren't fooling and genuinely trying to write the language without the proper character set, then apologies. It did occur to me you may come from that part of the world but you don't state a country for your location, so I posted that last message anyway. Sorry.
