Well, looking at Gametrailers of all the PS3 in-game footage.... they all seem to be pre-renders instead of realtime footage ...

If you look at the motorstorm video, does anyone in here seriously think this is in-game footage? Look at the detail, each pebble and each rockface is individually modelled, it's like the matrix.

That's understandable quality for a pre-rendered sequence, but i'm not buying for one second that this is in-game footage. The same can be said for all the other videos i've seen for the PS3 - all except GT5 - which looks like a glorified GT4... maybe this is because the GT5 footage is actually in-game?

Yes Sony is full of shit. The sad thing is there are people naive enough to think it's real in-game footage.

why we just wait for that?

still the unreal 3 engine looks dam cool too so what make you someone cant do something better?

still that videos dont look so perfect to be considered prerendered at all

but still all I hav to say is we should wait to see if all this is true or not

dont offend but I think you are a sony hater cuz I didnt hav see people bashing the x360 pics that looks very cool too to be ingame

Yeah look at all his posts about consoles boy o boy the fan boys have been out in force ever since these confrences started yesterday!

I'm with you lePobz. Unfortunately most of these poor bastards won't be until they've parted with their hard-earned cash.

I'm not a fanboy of anything, i'm just being analytical (sp) of the media being released ... the stuff from Sony is too good to be true. I hope it is true, really... but they are doing what they did with the PS2, and I think if everyone thinks the games that do come out are going to look like these videos, everyone will be in for a big disappointment.

It probably won't be as detailed but like I've said before, they're probably using some in-game assets to produce some of the content seen in those trailers. It might be close to it though. :)

Hehe, vegeta was IMing me and freaking out about how it looked and how awesome it was going to be. NAIVE VEGETA!

It'd be nice but I have extreme trouble believing it.

Funny, vegeta was the one with his panties in a twist yelling at me about how graphics don't matter. ****ing hypocrite.

Anyway, yeah, I wish these games were actually going to look this good but unfortunately, it's the camera work that we'll ultimately never see. I mean, who wants a shaky cam where you can't even see anything? You'll never be able to hit a target.

I cant let go of that Kill Zone vid....watched 9 times already

I'm believing it to be in game footage till i hear otherwise. 2 x 6800 ultras and that cell processor at 3.2ghz x 7 chips. We're talking serious hardware here, so im assuming this is within the realms of possible. Especially with the epic guys actually walking around the UT2k7 battle arena with the HDR and super graphics, i have no reason not to believe its pre-rendered. True the ps1 and ps2 had this, but you can't just use a pattern as conclusive evidence.

I've seen xbox 360 shots, and without being biased, they looked good, but they didn't blow me away and shock me thinking 'wow this is a new generation'. I dunno its not a bad console i just think its gonna get shown up in this battle. Threads like this make me think that people like yourself pobz who i know prefer the xbox, i saw your vote in the console choice thread, maybe your feeling a little surprised or shocked by these images and reacting. Not a bad thing, cos if it turns out this is what the PS3 can do...well microsoft take a deep breath. Nintendo better pull something big out the bag i tell ya!

edit: me too lemon...about 7 times hehe!

Look at the link Murray posted, the guy from Epic has mentioned that most of the demos were actually pre-rendered footage but he believes that those quality of graphics are possible on the PS3 hardware. If that holds up to be true remains to be seen. Likely we won't see any of the graphically intensive games until late 2006/2007.

Nicely put!

I thought the Killzone vid was pre-rendered. It's not because of the insane graphics or whatever, it's just the view looks unweildy. The first-person-view was bobbing all over the place.

Maybe I need to watch it again.

It's been confirmed that the Killzone video is prerendered.

One of many:

The matter of fact is, KZ and Motor storm demos looked the most impressive of the bunch. Motor Storm also noone seemed to believe was realtime, then the screenshots came out and it became pretty obvious that it was. As for KZ noone has a proof either way. With all due respect I have no idea who you are or how valid your sources are.

Repeat: a friend of mine has been working on the KZ animation in an english studio and he has confirmed that it is prerendered. This is proof enough for me, and certainly more reliable than Sony's marketing (who, by the way, have never said that KZ is realtime!)...
And by the way, he and others in the industry too, have been hinting for months that many next-gen 'demos' are going to be prerendered because the hardware is not yet ready.

Beyond3D forums.

Ha, someone dampered the community boner!

Let go of the 2 6800 ultra bullshit.. the things got roughly 25 gb/s going through that gpu, thats 3 gb/s more than the xbox 360. not even close to two 6800 ultras. its called a marketing ploy.

Look, my only question about KZ, is the people working on it. Sure they may be a talented bunch, but think for a second.. How long has UE3 been in development? Ok, and just recently, the KZ team released the first game in the story, so either they've been working on this revolutionary engine, they've been working on a revolutionary engine and two games, or they pre rendered a movie to have something in time to show for E3.

Which one sounds the most logical to you?

I think motorstorm was real-time..look at this screenshot

http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/driving/motorstorm/screens.html?page=3

look closely at the bumper of the truck..see the jaged edges like in real-time games? I'm pretty convinced that was real time...but..I guess will see tomorrow..when we actually see real games being played on the PS3 at E3.

That could just be because of the nature of the screenshot, or bad quality of the video or what have you. Certainly some photoshop has been done.. rather cheaply too.

I just find it insulting that sony gives us a bunch of cg movies, very little actual gameplay, while microsoft, for ONCE does an ethical thing and actually shows you what you are getting (which is incredible). Hopefully sony has some big guns in line for the floor, or else they bit off way more than they can chew.

So true..I'd be pretty pissed. :sniper:

You know what would be funny

If most of the videos we're actually in-game (Except for killzone, that was obvious)

I'd eat a big ass platter of my own words. Somehow I'm doubting it though.

I'll stick with my PC, f*** the console bandwagon.

I think its real, but they may be pulling a valve. E.g that currently theres none like this, but there will be. Either way... Its cool.

edit: Also note, I dont think.. Correct me if Im wrong, but has anyone stated there ingame? Most trailers dont use in-game... but some was CLEARLY ingame, for example most of the heavenly sword trailer. I beileve the kill zone one *might* be, but chances are its pre-rendered, but who cares? I beileve it looks that good in real time too.

the epic games guys have said they expect "killzone 2" type graphics for ps3 launch titles.

Cell processor, GPU equal to two NVidia 6800's.......this thing is going to have power on its side.

Okay chu. After jumping on the console wagon train in order to post so much about how you'd like to ditch it, I think we get your point already.

Anywho, it seems to me as though many people want for these screens and vids to be faketty fake. Yes they were mostly rendered, but many (like killzone) seem to have been rendered in-engine. So are they impossibly good?
Remember, this console can play Unreal 3.
No-one here acted so incredibly skeptical and aloof when those U3 screens were shown for PC.
Now stuff that looks comparable (and in some cases worse) is being called impossible and a big scam just because it's a playstation.

Complain once you have a valid basis for complaint.

And no, I'm not some sony fanboy. I'm buying the Rev first, and the PS3 eventually, pretty much only for the Metal Gear 4.
Because I'm sure it'll be prohibitively overpriced.
I'm just getting tired of this elitist attitude on all sides fueling so much baseless cynicism.

Fact is that PS3 is more powerful than the Xbox 360. It supports up to 1080p on two moniters at once! While 360 can only do 720p (correct me if I'm wrong).

I think it's pretty obvious that the Killzone 2 and MotorStorm trailers were pre-rendered, but perhaps using some in-game assets.

So, let's discus the ones that we know are in-game.

I'm talking about the UT2007 one, the Fight Night one, the I-8 one, DarkSector, and the tech-demos. I think Heavenly Sword also. They look amazing!

I thought the Ghost Recon 3 trailer on the 360 was pretty lack-luster in comparison, and it looked like they used the bloom effect like mad to cover up the fact that it didn't look as good as people expected.

Mechagodzilla speaks the truth! Praise be to the Mech for he knows no wrong

Me in anouther thread
Look back when Ps1 came out, remember the games, tomb raider 1? Wipeout? Those where the worst looking piles of crap ever... compaired to the ones that came out later.

Killzone is prerendered, we now know this, but that doesnt mean its not possable, that doesnt mean sony is lieing to you, and it does not mean the ps3 is just a big cover up story.

Only been a day and Im sick of you silly little people running around the forum like headless chickens because a company dared to show Prerendered game footage I mean, my god no one but pretty much every freaking game company making a trailer for there game before has done that!

This all stinks of Valves E3, when they "Faked" the AI and stuff in HL2, but sure as hell when it came out it was real. That shut up the headless chickens.

I agree with San, that heavenly sword, which was clearly ingame after the short "blinking ninja" bit, looked fantastic, maybe not as pretty as killzone or unreal 3, but the ammount of stuff going on with no slow down was great.

Er... am I missing something here?
Yes. He said it can "only" do 720i, implying that it was the limit of the console. Which is incorrect. You left out the 1080i part.

Who exactly is contesting the amazing UE3 demonstration, and why? That was stunning, and it was running in real-time on the PS3 right there at the show. Killzone was faked, and it was pretty obvious, but UE3 wasn't. So what's the deal? Any system that can run UE3 in the way shown last night is pretty damn powerful.
