They showed it with a 6800 at E3 (probably with a 3.6 P4 and 2 gigs of RAM is my best guess). With the 7800 you can dominate the game ;)

Let's just say if you guys don't have at least an ATI 9800 or a high-end GeForce FX (what is it, a 5600 or something?) then you guys need to upgrade.

Sorry to say but your GeForce 4 Ti's aren't going to last much longer! Time to save up and upgrade!

Looks good.

Seems like ATI has really fallen by the wayside lately. NVIDIA gettin' all the good press.

all it is is the cool HL2.net folks though....;)

Edit: That's better.
awwww... zerimski changed my post... HL2.net mods are trying to hide the truth! it's a conspiracy, i say, a CONSPIRACY!

wonder how long it takes him to edit this post

If my 9800 can run this, I'll eat my hat. There's just no way, not even at low settings. It'd be like trying to run UT2k3 on a Geforce 2 MX (which I have tried, and it was not pretty).

You've only seen the engine run at the high settings...

You haven't seen it on Low settings so how can you make a statement like that? One of my friends went to GDC and had lunch with a guy from Epic... They said they have done experiments with UE3 on GeForce 4 series cards and it technically does work, but it's just soooooooo bad looking that you would want to upgrade a card just to make the game look good. (they also aren't even sure if it's worth the trouble of supporting and testing it considering those cards will be 5-6 years old when the game is released)

I will hold you to your statement sir!!!

Granted I can't say for certain that it couldn't run, but it's very implausible. And just like the guy from Epic said, it'll look terrible if it DOES run. I'm imagining something similar to the community-made patch for the BF2 demo that allowed it to be played by GeForce 4 users.

Feel free to hold me to my statement regardless, as I am protected by the fact that my hat is purely metaphorical. I do not own any physical hats.

I'd say that this is a good enough reason to upgrade my pc! Those movies and screenshots look incredible. Will wait and see what Ati offer in there next gen video cards.

Yea don't upgrade now for a game that is coming out later... If UE3 is going to be the reason, upgrade right before UT2007 comes out (so then prices will be down, and you will have had a chance to see the next-next-gen cards)

I'm unimpressed by the graphics. I mean sure, they're pretty nice, but that's the best of the best?

Ouch, hard to please aren't you? I remember playing Unreal II: the awakening on a 9200se, and in awe at how much the engine could make of the crappy card. Here's hoping this is an efficient/flexible engine too.

Aha. Someone's been spoiled.
