Last night, after a week of loading all different video drivers, and about a million restarts, I played HL2! I had to set my computer to 800x600 as well as the game, but it seemed to work. I played for about an hour with just minor stuttering in the begining, but the rest ran smooth. I shut the game off at 1am, and went to bed. When I woke up at 7am, I tried to start it up the same way, and wouldn't you know it, It hangs during when I try to load the save game. So what is the deal? What is causing my this freeze? I don't think it's a driver issue anymore, because it actually ran.
This is the system I'm running:
Dell XPS 400
Intel Pentium 2.8ghz
1 gig ram
SB Audiology 2 zs
nVidia Geforce 6800 256mb pci express, driver version 7.8.0.5
HL2:GOYE
Internet connection: Cable
Now I assumed that my system could run it smoothly right off the bat, but that got shot to peices. I have not tried starting HL2: DM or CS:S because I am tired of all these restarts. Steam usually runs fine, but I want to play the game. Any help would be great. thank you.
