Jesus.. what the hell these idiots in Hollywood thinking? Oh yeah.... how terrifying this is, I bet it will be so scary... NOT. Amazing, I still can't understand how film industry can produce so much crap. Yeah, I bet soundtrack will be full of the "hip" songs too, from dead 2pac, DMX and so on, and there will be a lot of boobs, etc. Did director of the movie even played the game?

Anyhow, Gabe isn't going to give HL over to just any director, so, if a HL/2 movie ever sees the light of day, it should be atleast half-decent

It’s a game that came before Resident Evil, same concept, came out on PC in 1992.

As it was brought up before, Max Payne is being worked on as a movie.. I honestly think that WILL make a good movie, as the story is already there.. might be a little short, so maybe if it was MP1/2 combined

Anyhow, as for the half-decent pun, I hadn't noticed that lol

Yea max payne would make a decent movie. The reason i say HL will probably suck is i think the story wont carry over very well into a movie. I mean think about it they would have someone in glasses running around fighting creatures in a compound, i just dont see how they are going to convert all of the cool things to a movie.

I've been lobying against the HL movie ever since the idea came up. 4 main reasons:

1. Most movies based on games suck.
2. HL story has about 25 minutes worth of dialogue, and 30 hours killing zombies with a shotgun. I think it will need some work before it can be put into a movie script.
4. Yeah, HL is "Best PC Game Ever" and stuff. But I bet still 90% of people in US never heard of it.
5. l33t h><04s will 'leak' it and put in on Kazaa.

But with the Max Payne movie, how is it going to be better than any other cliche action movie? What are they going to use BulletTime™ 2.0?

I just don't see why they would make a movie out of it, the main appeal for the game is BulletTime, but if it was a movie....? What could they do to make it stand out from the others.

I don't think the 'Max Payne' character would be enough to make a movie either. To me this character has already been seen, Mel Gibson as Porter in "Payback".

The first Max Payne's plot is far to familiar with that of Mad Max (which also has Mel Gibson, hmmm), the whole man's wife and child are killed and he gets revenge, so that plot should be scratched off. I don't know what the plot of the 2nd Max Payne is though.

Anyways, I don't really care to see a Max Payne movie. mchammer, I think the Half Life plot would make a better movie than Max Payne would.

Yea it is so cliche its disturbing but thats the reason it would translate into a decent action movie. The story is all there or whatever, just like for the game they just gotta do the fighting creatively and people will watch. I think max payne and mel have something for each other.

Movies have much more of a burden to tell stories then games do. Games can use all kinds of tricks to entertain you, the interactivity alone makes them interesting.

Well, for me, if I have never heard of Max Payne and this movie came out I probably wouldn't pay money to see it. I can't think of anything they could do different to make me see this.

halflife would make a good movie if they made the story different from 1 or 2, but set in the halflife universe, taking place during the first alien invasion, kindof like a action/disaster flick- say like independence day, but good, with a sort of spooky atmosphere.. like a dark drama
