Well it seems Alpha Protocol has been delayed into Summer 2010

Sega on why they are delaying the game

"We had a few reasons for doing it. One: We wanted to position it better, give it a lot of time. The main reason: We really wanted to polish the game up, make it everything Obsidian planned it to be, and give the consumer a very polished game.

"We added a couple of other things. Tweaks in lighting here and there, added the inventory comparison screen so you can compare what you're buying to what you have equipped. Just bringing the whole quality level up."

Lame.

Well they are working on fallout, that must have cut the production team down in half.

O.K. there might have been a little mistake here. I think Sega may have originally delayed this into summer 2010 when they delayed the game back in October 2009. Instead of spring 2010.

Does anyone have any info on this.

"We are delaying it because we are incompetent ****ing morons who like to delay or put good games on hold while we pump out shittier games so they don't get overshadowed."

Poor Stern. That was all he was looking forward to this year. :(

Me? I never bothered to look into this one too much. It didn't seem to stand out to me. Maybe more time in the cooker will make it into something brilliant.

Goddamn incompetent ****s why don't they just release this NOW. I mean, it's not like like pushing an Obisidian product out the door before it's ready has ever resulted in anything but a full and polished ga--

Oh yeah.

Truth to be told, it was still better than most RPGs of the time.

It's pretty easy to see what happened here. They were making a Mass Effect clone ... and then Mass Effect 2 came out. Their product simply wasn't able to compete so they stowed it to push it further out to reduce comparison and/or polish it to make it more competitive.

Hopefully this has positive results. I'm still optimistic about it, but the general tone and inclusion of "abilities" that aren't grounded in reality (guns having unlimited ammo for a set amount of time for instance) lead me to believe that this isn't going to be the hard edged espionage RPG thriller I want.

But then there's that Agent game Rockstar is making...

I somewhat expected this. Hopefully, they will get rid of most of the bugs.

You are so insightful and intelligent.

Im glad they're giving Obsidian time to polish things. They usually get shafted when they need more time, and they end up with a worse game for it.

Not that the game interests me at all though. Saw some gameplay for it... no thanks.
