AWESOME.

That Ubisoft/Kojima April Fool's joke was pretty elaborate! Snake running around MGS4 dressed as Altair, looking for all the world like it was actually in the game...so would it surprise you to hear that it wasn't really a gag? Yeah, that's right. It was announced at the MGS4 wrap party today that MGS4 players will indeed be able to unlock an Assassin's Creed outfit for Snake (we won't tell you how), which were it not for the silver moustache and trademark cigarette would have you thinking Altair himself had time-travelled his way into the final Metal Gear title. How's this happening? Why's this happening? Who knows, the mind boggles.
Source.

So what other sorts of craziness could be hidden in there???

Wow, that sure is creative, first they mocked Sam Fisher in their original announcement trailer(Where Raiden and Snake fought), now they mock Altair in MGS4, hey, is it just me or is Konami mocking their only true rival when it comes to "Stealthgames"?

Oh well, it's better than the tiresome gay-jokes, though I'm sure we'll get plenty of that too.

Since when was Assassin's Creed a stealth game? :|

Seems kinda weird more than anything else to me o_O

still can't wait for this and the new trailer kicked ass.

I think you guys are taking this a little too seriously. As a gamer, I think this sort of thing is very very cool. I would say it is more of an homage than anything else. It is always fun to have different outfits for main characters in games, esp. when they are from other games!

No one seemed to mind when it was the Rabbids doing it! :flame:

It's great, and it's pretty obvious that this is done with ubi softs approval.

That's different because that game was made by the same company, I actually doubt this was done with Ubis consent.. And until I get official confirmation I'll continue doubting.

How is it mocking to have snake look like altair, it's a compliment, a nod at assasins creed.

And it is definitely with ubi's consent, they made a ****ing april fools video with snake in altair robe, and to top it off jade raymond did the foreword to that vid.

When did they mock sam fisher? Anyone have a link to the video?
As I said, in the original MGS4 announcement trailer(That ran on the MGS3 engine), the one with "No Place To Hide" etc, Snake dressed almost exactly like Sam Fisher battled Raiden for the seat of "Main Character".

Actually, they blurred out what she said, it could very well be announcement of Assassin's Creed: Alta?r's Chronicles which came out earlier this year for the Nintendo DS?:)

Why else would they blip out when she says the games name?

I guess we could always email Ubisoft and find out.

Edit: Sorry for double-post, got carried away.

From IGN...
Assassin's Solid Becomes a Reality

May 13, 2008 - Metal Gear Solid 4 is getting some major collaborations as revealed today at Konami's MGS4 Completion Ceremony in Japan. But for western gamers, perhaps none of the product tie-ins are as big as Assassin's Solid.

First shown as an elaborate April Fools joke on... well, on April 1st, of course, it turns out that you will be able to actually play as Solid Snake in an Altair costume from Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed. Specifics on how you get the costume weren't revealed at the event, but director Hideo Kojima did say that you'll have to do something special.

Konami also handed out first official artwork and a screenshot for the costume. We've posted the media below, but we'll remind you that you've probably looking at a video trailer of this for well over a month.

I would say that this is pretty official and makes perfect sense. Kojima was extremely interested in Assassin's Creed--remember Jade talking about how he came to play it at some event way back and loved it. It is a brilliant tie-in. I love it.

I wonder if Koj likes AC D:

Maybe he just wants to get close to Jade Raymond.

Pretending to pray while walking != Hiding under a cardboard box.

Fixed. MGS games have never taken themselves too seriously. AC was supposed to be serious.

Also, at least in MGS the cardboard box was only effective when you used the correct box in the proper context. In AC you could get away with mass-murder by just bowing your head and clasping your hands anywhere.
