Allright this is a mod i have been thinking about for quite some time. The name is obvious and i need a few staff. Refer to medico.suddenlaunch3.com for the forums under the board title Alternate Reality.

Its basicly you play as a general citizen, going about their buissness and then it cuts to the rebelion. In the rebellion we are working primarily as a resistance worker and we need to send our rebels to recruit help. we are that help

I need Coders, Skinners, Modelers, Sound recorders and map designers and i suppose a few concept artists would be good to. I will draw up basic basic designes for maps and models.

We will be including snarks, hydra, icythasaur, combine supersoldiers and new synths aswell. Hoping you can join.

Thanks for your help guys

if you made your mod about being a medic in HL2, and had some super-awesome bits where you had to patch together wounded people, I'd personally give it my stamp of approval.

Until then, the description is a little...uninspiring.

If I mention an idea in a forum as a suggestion, then its free to take.

I'm a lawyer, not an asshole. I avoid posting ideas that I know I'm going to use.

Then again, those who know me probably realise that I'm an asshole, not a lawyer :p

Somebody want to explain how just being a medic in the HL2 scenario would be fun? I'm not seeing it.

How about a mod where you are a rebel that has to fashion and deliver SMG1's to the front lines, but in a huge plot twist the combine force you to deliver your SMG1's to them and then you have to live on minimum wage and come home to your wife every night and explain to her why you had to work 8 extra hours to get those SMG1's shipped. Then your marriage fails and you take cocaine as a means of escape, and then you die because someone laced it with antlion pheromones. What a moron.

Sorry for that, anyway if you can do a general resistance game, it would probably be fun. I don't think it's neccessary to make new models, and you already have all you need to re-create hl2 style maps. Start simply with maps, and expand from there if you need to. Voice acting and whatnot can follow.

If executed correctly, I can see it hitting pretty high on the AWESOME scale. It really depends on how the whole healing part is executed. Perhaps if a gump of the NPC's body appears, with different wounds on it, and you have to treat them with your limited equipment. That'd be kinda AWESOME.

How exactly would this treatment take place? Would it involve like little mini-games or something? That's the only way I could see this being entertaining, if only for as short while.

Then you're pretty stuck in the FPS way of thinking.

I'm thinking of a puzzle-minigame, where you have to complete it before the character dies.

Bare in mind, that as a single-player episode, it'd only need be exciting for the duration of the mod.

Well you'll have to forgive me to for placing it in the context of an FPS when talking in this thread about modding an FPS game.

I did say it would have to be a mini-game. I don't know that it would be exciting for the duration of the mod though. It's more likely that it would be fun for a few times, and then it would lose its appeal as most puzzle games do. Unless it happened to be an exceptionally good puzzle game, like tetris or something.

It wouldn't be constant. Just something that pops up when you go over to a wounded team-mate. There's ways of balancing it.

-Angry Lawyer

There are ways to balance anything. I'm just saying, IMO it would get old having to solve the same types of puzzles over and over. I suppose you could have many different puzzle types, but that means you'd have to come up with many different puzzles that are actually good. I'm not sure the added gameplay would be good enough to justify the dev time.

[Hijacking of this guys thread is officially complete ;)]

Randomly generated stuff does work, and it'd not be the focus of the mod to heal people.

Still, it's not my mod :p

Or you could have, at the most basic level, something like the CT's defusing the bomb in CS
Except the hands would be working on the the victim and patching him up and all that.

Allright, the way i figure it, we could do it like americas army
i personaly have never played it but i have heard that you have to sequence how you do your heal. Also, you will have to put your CHs over the top of the wound, maybe you can get some forceps. and maybe some bandages and the likes, this is turning out pretty good

Sorry to give life to an old thread (ironic the way it's going) but i'd love to write for it, if you need the help?

As a writer, like plot wise. Send me a PM of what you think about the plot, and we'll work it out.
