I'm ordering my new computer here in a few days, but I want to make sure there isn't anything else I can get that I would be more happy with.. Right now I have $475.00 I plan on getting this http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=775609&Sku=B450-4112 B as well as a Radeon 9800 Pro, and possibly upgrading to 512x2 PC3200 400mhz DDR RAM.

I'm not very fond of the case tho, I have looked to see if there are any better deals out there right now, but making sure I looked hard enough.

With the rebate, and the fact that it'll come prebuilt (if you're too shakey about putting one together yourself), that's a pretty good deal indeed.
Although, you could find those parts individually for a little less (not alot, though), I'd say you're getting a good deal

BTW, don't get PC3200 DDR SDRAM unless you plan to overclock your CPU
The 2500+ runs at 333MHz FSB by default, your RAM should be in sync with that

Well, me and my dad usually do that together because building is the best part imo, the only thing that scares me is the first time I turn it on.. Always a sigh of relief when it boots up correctly.

And I have been thinking about overclocking and I remembered that it decreases the life span of the overclocked product, and I don't know if I will want this hardware for 6 months, or for a year (depends on cash inflow)..

So do you think if I overclock the processor (2500+ barton) to possibly 3200+ speeds, I will be ok?
Also does the RAM have to be in sync with FSB? If so, I never knew that ;/

Edit : Moto when I first looked at the case, I LOVED IT!! But since then I went to this overclocker forum filled with rich whores and they were showing off cases and it just looks like crap compared to that alien ware stuff, and what have you.

Well, i perosnally like the case, if that matter at all.
Overclokcing doesn't decease the lifespan of components noticibly, unless you're really, really hardcore OCing it... (which you won't be on air)

If you're gonna overclock to 3200+ speeds, you should get pc3200, because the pc2700 that comes with that won't make it all the way up to 400mhz.

And if you're gonna OC up to 3200+ speeds, you need a better HSF and thermal compound.... (Arctic Silver compound is great)

Heatsink wise...here are a few good ones...

Not on pentium 4 based systems. Initially, athlon XPs HAD to be insync, and now some mobos have support for Async operation, but it's EXTREAMLY ineffcient.

(asus, correct me where i'm wrong ;) )

The fact of the matter is that it will perform faster in Syncronous operation. :) Keep the memory at the speed of the bus.

for AMD rigs.

No. Your computer won't POST without RAM, it has to be in.

Thermal Compound? Eh? :rolling:
