When are Amazon gonna start shipping man? Has anyone elses copy shipped yet? I just know it won't come on the 16th and I'll get it on like the 20th or something stupid. I would have ordered off gameplay.co.uk who always get it to you before the release date but I only had to pay £21.98 on Amazon. Whats funny though is the delivery estimate still says: Not Yet Dispatched: 1 item - delivery estimate: Oct 1, 2003 - Oct 2, 2003

Never order from Amazon, they're useless when it comes to shipping your goods out...order from a dedicated games store like GAME, who are good at this sort of thing.

Amazon will never get your goods to you on a release date if you have pre-ordered.

You still have chance to change the order if its not been dispatched! Steam steam steam steam steam steam steam steam steam steam steam steam steam steam steam steam steam steam steaaam

My order says...

Dispatch estimate: Nov 15, 2004
Delivery estimate: Nov 16, 2004 - Nov 17, 2004

So there is still hope you might receive it on release day. I don't normally order from amazon if I want guaranteed release day delivery, but I had £30 in vouchers :)

unlucky with amazon, i've gone to gameplay.co.uk and mine gets dispatched monday, i get it on Tuesday with the usual post. Amazon are rubbish at delivery estimates, i've only used them once for books, and never again!

In defence of Amazon, I always find they are very good at delivering your goods on-time. I never had a problem... YET!

Anyway, if it takes a couple of days to arrive, who cares? It's only a game... relax and get on with life.

My amazon account says:

Dispatch estimate: Nov 16, 2004
Delivery estimate: Nov 17, 2004 - Nov 18, 2004

Thats lucky, my dads birthday is on Nov 17 :bounce:

i would have got it off steam but steam is blocked cos I'm on a uni connection. Also I have no external phone line, which means I'll have to lug my pc over to a mates to register. Damn you Valve! :p

Thats quite true, they are pretty good at hitting their estimates. They will never be able to hit the release date of a pre-ordered game though, never have for me, they always hit the second date rather than the first for a pre-order. :hmph:

Can't you just log in on his PC? (I'm not asking can you, I know you can but is it possible in your situation?) and validate your copy?

edit - sorry for the double post!

You can't do that, you have to do it on the PC with HL2 files on it, so they will be decrypted.

Amazon always dispatch the day before release date. And I've always got my games on the actual release date. If they sent it today, a lot of people would get it on Monday, which is bad.

A lot of people misunderstand this validation. It's just that you need to be logged into Steam to play it. Steam already has an offline mode that keeps you logged in whilst you are offline. That's the point of this copy protection thing. It's nothing to do with decryption. So you need to activate it on the computer you wish you play Half-Life 2 on.

Well even buying the retail game your still not going to be able to play it as you have to validate the game through steam?

If you're desparate for the game I'd ring Gameplay 0845 345 4440 (open Saturday) and find out when they plan to post HL2 and, if you order now, will YOUR copy be sent Monday.

If yes to all this, cancel Amazon (if not too late) and order with Gameplay. Pay 99p 1st class post. It'll cost a bit more but its the quickest way to do it...

Correct. But colic knows this. So what's your point?

He said he's going to take his PC round to a mates to register...

frances_farmer if you log into your amazon account and mess about with the gift wrapping options (but not add any) it should update your account with a current dispatch date.

My leg is in plaster due to a ruptured Achilles tendon operation so I'm looking forward to Tuesday. I hope it works with my 3d glasses. Got my beer ordered. Ordered Half Life 2 collector's edition from Game and I expect to receive it on Tuesday morning.
Yippee! Beer and Half Life 2! I can't believe I'm nearly 40!

Darn i got it off amazon but payed for first class postage. will that make a difference?
- Why cant they send it now because we cant play untill its activated.

Dispatch estimate: Nov 15, 2004
Delivery estimate: Nov 16, 2004 - Nov 17, 2004

Order Date: November 11, 2004

Items not yet shipped:
Delivery estimate: November 29, 2004 - December 10, 2004
1 of: Half-Life 2: Raising the Bar

I probably should've used .co.uk instead of .com, but in this case .com is both cheaper AND faster...

hmm im going into waterstones today to see if they have raising the bar, they have it online in stock so I have some hope.

delivery from amazon have always been brilliant in my experience but i've never preordered a game from it....i always do that from game

Amazon are getting useless as delivery. I ordered halo2 and some dvds.
Thd dvd despatch estimate was 1st novemeber.. not yet despatched.
And halo is not despatched yet either, though it still says that the delivery estimate is the 11th.

yeah but the other dvds? I cancelled it and ordered it straight away and it dispatched. a week later and it still isn't here.

Ive pre-ordered Hl2 off Amazon with 1st class delivery for 28 quid. It says Dispatch estimate is 15th and delivery 16th-17th.
I have neva used them, but they were cheapest i could find, also a friend of mine pre-ordered San Andreas off amazon.co.uk and he received it a day before the release date.
Also they will definitely try and dispatch HL2 on Monday, because they will have soo many orders for it they need to ship them out quickly.

drinking before noon just isn't pleasurable, it doesn't matter how old you are ... and drinking in the pub before noon is infact quite sad :)

I can enjoy a can of cold beer at any time of the day.

I have to agree that Amazon UK is very good at keeping with it's dispatch dates.

Every single thing I have bought on Amazon has arrived when they said it would, in great condition. When I ordered half life 2 about a 1 and a half weeks ago it came up straight away with

Dispatch estimate : 15th November 2004
Delivery estimate : 16th November 2004

I trust Amazon, and i'm sure they will forfill their promise, besides it is very easy to cancel an item if it has not been dispatched

PLUS I found that amazon is selling half life 2 about £1 cheaper than other retailers, not alot of difference I know, but still....
