One last thing (I hope)
How much better performance in games can I expect from what I currently use:

Intel Celeron D 2.666 GHz

To what I will buy:

AMD 64 3500+ 939

or

AMD 64 3200+ 939

thanks!

Awesome :burp:
Not sure what the numbers represent. Average fps? Average score out of lots of tests?

either way the Atholon 64 3500+ scored almost 3 times as high as my celeronD2.667 on wolfenstien enemy territory

almost 2 times better for D3

that answers my question. Again I thank you Asus :)

hOLY shit dude!

The athalon 64 blows the Celeron out of the water!

Thanks alot man! I can't wait to order my stuff tomorrow

Yeh :) - A64's are great chips, and overclock well.

3500+ is by far the best deal considering what you get for the price and that you can easily get to 3800+ or 4000+ speeds, and especially if you have dual channel memory.

Much depends on your steppings. My 3500+ was a complete dog, and wouldn't go past 2.5 gig (and needed plenty of juice to get that)

My new 3000+ does 2.6 gig without breaking a sweat - completely blowing the 3500+ away.

Dont even consider a celeron for gaming :) Not worth the price, if you get my drift.

What do you mean steppings, and how can I avoid a complete dog?

The one I'm buying is Winchester core from newegg.com
Thanks

Unless you can go into a shop and look at the stepping, it's complete luck. The more recent chips (week 50+, cbbid) seem to be a complete crock :/

If you can find a week 42-48 spaw 3000+ or 3200+ you'll be unlucky to hit under 2.6 gig (and will most likely manage 2.7 and above)

However, if you're just planing to run at stock settings none of this matters.

Im not going to overclock it if thats what you mean by stock settings. Is it?

I'm either going for the 3000+ or the 3500+ may just save some money and go w/3000+ since there doesn't seem to be a very big difference. anything is alot better than what I have 2.667 ghz Celeron D. that is certain. :dork:
answer back plz

Yeh - sotck settings are the default.

If you're not going to overclock then i'd get the most expensive 939 you can. afford. Both chips will spank your current one - but a 3500+ at stock is noticably better than a 3000+ at stock (which is to be expected really)
