Hi, i want to upgrade my cpu and motherboard, i was thinking of getting an Amd 64 3500+ 512k L2 Cache. Im wondering if i should get this processor or the 3400+ (1 Mb L2 Cache) Does 512 Kb of cache make a big difference, i read a couple benchmarks and the 3500+ was beating the 3400+ by a bit and then theres some benchmarks of the 3400+ beating the 3500+because of its L2 Cache. So which one should i get? Also im thinking of buying (ASUS A8V DELUXE ATHLON64 S939 K8T800PRO DUAL DDR AGP 5PCI SATA 1394 SOUND 1000LAN) for the 3500+ or if i get the 3400+ i would get the ( ASUS K8V SE DELUXE ATHLON64 S754 DDR AGP 5PCI SATA RAID 1394 1000LAN SOUND) Now which processor should i buy i want the one that I buy to last me quite a while so that i dont have to upgrade for a while. Also will my ram work or do i need to buy new ram?

Thanks in Advance

First, if you are considering a 3400+ at least consider the better one.
The 3400+ 2.2GHz 1MB L2 cache is slower than 3400+ 2.4GHz 512K L2 cache. There are 2 versions of the 3400+. But both are scoket 754.

But I would look to the Athlon 64 3500+ (90nm version) on Socket 939, which runs at 2.2GHz 512K L2 cache with dual channel memory. Why? Because if you want to get into PCI-Express (SLI) down the road you can without changing your CPU. Just buy the GFX card and board for PCI-Express.
Also 90nm versions are good OCers and seem to run cooler.
And in the future if you wish to Upgrade to an FX59 CPU you can.

The 3400+ is at 2.4ghz? I thought the 3700+ and 3800+ where at 2.4ghz. I want to buy the 3500+ but i can only find the 130 nm version i cant find the 90 nm. The 3500+ runs at 2.2ghz right? And if i buy this processor do i have to buy any kind of special ram?

I live in Canada and i couldnt find any, can someone find me a 3400+ 90nm 2.4ghz on a Canadian site and post the link if possible thanks.

i don't think they make 3400+ 90nm A64s, just 3000+, 3200+, and 3500+.
