If you were ordering a new computer to day which processor would you bay??

(I'm most interested in the Barton vs. 64 bit because I'm going for AMD).

Thanks :)

A64 if you got the cash, mobile Barton if you haven't. I wouldn't get a standard Barton.

(btw - I didn't have the cash - and got a xp-m 2500)

I regret not getting AMD when I upgraded, so I voted for the AMD 64.

mobile Barton if you haven't. I wouldn't get a standard Barton.
Are you saying that I should bay a MOBILE processor for my computer? I thought that mobile processors were to note books.... WTF??

Zhey run cooler than normal, use the same socket, run on lower voltage, and overclock like adrenalin junkies.

Ahh! cool. But I still don't get that a mobile processor schould work fine in a standart PC... But what the føck - if it's working :D

Yeh - mobile Bartons are just the best Bartons money can buy - and why they're intended for laptops (need less voltage and run cooler)

They work great in normal pcs - an xp-m 2500 is considerably better than an xp 3200 ..... and much cheaper. (make sure you get the ones that run at 1.45v and you're laughing :))

//edit - still, get the A64 if you got the cash.

I agree with the guys above me - for gaming, go with AMD over Intel (P4).
If you can aford it - go with a AMD 64 bit, if not, a Barton does great.

I have a 2800+ Barton - slightly overclocked to a 3000+ speed. 2800+ or 3000+ are relatively cheap, and with 1.5G PC2700 XMS RAM, dual 74G Raptors in RAID 0, 9800XT 256M, my system is great to go for everything on High (in CounterStrike:Source and DOOM 3 - all high settings, not Ultra).
Short story with the Bartons for playing HL2 (and everything else on high) - have enough RAM and a good video card. The hard drives just improves the loading time - Windows and games!

if performance is your only concern, there is no contest.
