Hi guys,
I recently did quite a big upgrade to my system and forked out on an Asus NForce4 SLI mobo with an AMD64 3500 CPU and new PCI express.

Now everything went well when putting it all together but now I seem to have hit a brick wall and need urgent help.

I bought a new 500wat PSU last year and thought this would be fine to use with my new mobo but when it came to connecting it up I discovered that the main power cable(long one with lots of wires) was 4 pins too short! I guessed I needed a special type of PSU for this mobo but after looking through the manual im stumped if I can find any info on what I should be looking for!

all I can find in the manual is something about it being EATX or something, trouble is I cant find any PSUs that provide this. Am I looking in the wrong place?

please help me!!

If you would like one that has 24pins then I think it's the V2.0 standard that you should look for. I could be wrong.

Here is the PSU I have that has 24pins. Although you should be able to use the one you have, just without the other 4 pins used. If you have any issues or restarts then get a new one. If you search on anandtech.com there are a few threads in their forums about it.

your mobo requires 24-pin ATX Power connector and your psu has only 20 pin
you can buy 24 to 20 pin adapter, or buy new psu with atx2.0 with 24 pin connector.

and you must connect other 4-pin ATX 12V Power connector to your mobo .

can you tell me what psu you have , some more details on it..

btw asus didnt see your post :E

ah cool, im going to try it tonight I think the worst that would happen is some instability - and in which case I will upgrade my PSU but otherwise I think I'll be ok as Im not going to be using the SLI option. (bought an ATI x800 XT)

I mean the 4 pin molex connector, above the video card slot (I think?)

I think i know what you mean, but i thought that you only needed to do this if you are using 2 video cards in sli, but i may be wrong, best check it out.
