Last night I was getting ready for bed, when for some bizarre reason, my Computer turns itself on :O

I am amazed by this event, but also wary because my parents are on holiday and I am the only one in the house. I turn it off by the power button, then immediately turn it off by the mains (Because I wanted to make sure this thing wouldn't happen multiple times over the night).

Anyway this morning I turned the computer back on, but now my LCD cannot find an analogue signal, either by connecting to DVI port 1 and 2. Thinking that its my LCD thats gone, I tried getting a signal with my CRT, but no luck.

I am adamant that this is a GPU problem, and one that I cannot fix anytime soon. Has anyone else had a similar side effect?

BTW, there were gale force winds last night, Woah it was strong.

Try turning the Computer's powersupply switch off (back of the PC, not the surge protector). Wait a full 10 seconds and turn it on.

If it does not turn on then check if any fans are moving or if there are any motherboard lights on (inside the PC).

I did mention that its signal output thats the problem. CPU and GPU lights and fans are fully operational

Do you have another gfx card in the house to try and see if it works?

Unfortunately my MX440 is also fried, from a previous unfortunate event ;)

Guess what, the problem seems to have sorted itself out. A day after the event my GPU and computer as a whole is working again.

Wierd Huh?

Glad it's working again! Hope it doesn't do it again.

Just wondering, did you ever switch the power supply on/off? Waiting for the capacitors to discharge would have the same effect.

I was hoping it wasn't a permanent thing, as I am giving my GPU and RAM to my Dad when I upgrade to a 8800 ;)

My new mobo, processor, Ram and GPU should be arriving in about a week.

BTW, I did what was instructed of me, and nothing good happened, but after getting home tonight (problem occured about 24 hours ago), it actually started working.
