Another Hardware Question

Okay, I'm kinda confused about all the 'what-do-I-need' threads. I know there ´many threads like this, but I can't find the answer to my question there...

my question:

What hardware do I need to run HL2 on the absolute maximum performance?

And how much badder will the game look with my Geforce 4 Ti4200, AMD Athlon XP 2400 (2Ghz), and 512MB Kingston DDR-RAM?

:: 2.4c (cheap good buy), overclocked to around 4.5-5ghz using liquid nitrogen.

:: 9800 Pro with the same cooling, clocked at 600/400 (voltmodded to supply enough juice)

:: 1gb memory running the same FSB as the CPU (what, 500mhz? :))

Of course, you need the motherboard heatsink (across the entire board), and a homebuilt PSU of about 1000W.

And of course speedstripes on the case. That will double speed.

And when we are done with the sarcasm: READ THREADS. SEARCH. It has been mentioned! But the easy answer is: the most expensive you can find. Find a netstore, look at CPUs, find the highest number. Look at Graphics card, find the highest number with a Pro after. Etc etc for all parts.

Heh, i hear those near-room-temperature super conducters yeid up to 19Ghz... look into one of those.

Seriously though, use the searc feature and buy hte most expensive parts you can. (IE 3.2GHz, 9800pro, HyperX ram, etc)

I know that I will get better graphics the better hardware I have, but I wanna know how my GF4 Ti4200, AMD 2400, and 512 MB DDR RAM will perform... anyone knows?

Fairly good. Not the fastest in its range (Ti4800), but one of them.

It will perform perfectly fine, but you *might* want a directX 9 card to have the cool directX 9 shaders. But your 4200 will be perfectly fine.
