Hey. I already tried the 2k forums with this problem, but they really couldn't help, and since I see other help threads in this forum, I guess there is no social stigma against it..

Anyways. I brought Bioshock new, for my PC. Upon putting the disk in, my drive fails to recognize that anything is in there. It makes some funny noises (Not scratching or other bad noises) and then stops. Going to My computer < E: < Explore or what have you just causes Windows explorer to Not Respond for a while, and then says "Please insert disk into drive E:". The disk is not scratched, I know I have a DVD drive (As I have the orange box), I updated my drives firmware, and it even works on another computer fine.

Any suggestions? This game looks so fun. D:

Does it work with other discs? It may be a problem with your PC, not the game.

Oh, forgot that detail. Nope, Dawn of War: Dark crusade works fine.

And as well, this happens to another disc I have, the new Futurama movie.

Thanks guys. Its a pretty impossible problem, I know.

Well, since you already bought it, you could try downloading a copy and bypass the disk drive altogether. It would be a pretty gigantic download though.

I tried that once before I owned the game, I generally avoid torrents now because they were such a hassle to get working sometimes. It'll probably resort to that.

I'm going to try and add my CD key to steam, it works with the orange box and such...maybe, just maybe...

Of course not.

The disk sounds like a bad print, I'd take it back and exchange it.

The harpy at the cash register already said no, it was opened.

That kind of policy makes no sense to me. Its not like you can check it without opening it first.

.4 bytes a second on my torrent. =P Oh sweet jesus.

Thanks for the help everyone. This is most likely the end of this little saga.

How many seeds are there? Theres one that has 70 people seeding, so that shouldnt take too incredibly long. Also, torrents usually pick up speed the longer you let them run, so dont just cancel it after a few minutes.

I found that one, but my internet just sucks. (wireless, too).

But I think I shall make a virtual CD. I am a sly fox.

Thank ye for all help, this thread can be closed by the powers that be.
