anyone noticed how the main character looks worse in the newer screenshots compared to the old ones? the flesh tones are much better in the old screenies...
 
Looks like it's coming along real well! ****in love that alien dude and the focus effect.

Some of the textures are so nice - some of the best I've seen even.

However, the textures of the sidewalk and interior flooring in the screenshots with the human wearing camo gear look terrible! They look like place holder graphics.

Some textures = best ever seen, some = worst ever seen.

Also, jaggies are really really bad in those same 2 images with the human in camo. It will probably all be fixed in the final version.


I'll probably buy it full price if it comes out for WindowsXP. The final project should be really sweet.

Jaggies won't matter for a PC version anyway, it all depends on what your PC is capable of.
 
I don't think the older screenshots looked much better, in some regards things have improved - combat looks great. Either way the game looks absolutely stunning, especially for an rpg on such a grand scale (it's not fair to compare it to, say, modern fps, which are teeny tiny in comparison)

If someone asked me what my ideal game would be years ago around the time Baldur's Gate came out, it'd be Mass Effect.

Still 360 exclusive afaik.

Truly great games come along very, very rarely. If this turns out to be as good as it looks it'll be worth the price of 2 360s :)
 
It's not the price I have a problem with though. Not really. I just think that if they want to sell me a game, they should make it for the PC. Same with Forza 2, The Darkness, Gears of War, and the dozens of other games I've missed out on past/present/future.

I'll just play something else unless they change their mind. Or maybe pick up the system and these games when they are platinum hits or something.
 
I'd prefer this game using the Infinity Engine, but this still looks pretty darn good. :E

The environments look ace. Looks nothing like KOTR really but still reminds me of the feel i got from that game which isn't a bad thing.
 
I bet it won't stay x360 exclusive for very long
 
I dont know ..it's published by microsoft and they're not always that keen to let go of exclusivity ...especially since dowloadable content will be a big part of Mass effect ..they could potentially create a money printing machine with Mass Effect through microtransactions and episodic content. however it would be in microsofts best interests to port Mass effect to pc so as to give people a reason to upgrade to Vista and Windows Live because Halo 2 isnt going to win many converts
 
They'll do a Halo - by the time Mass Effect arrives on the pc it'll be old news, screenshots and threads wanking over Mass Effect 2 will be flooding gaming forums the world over.

Yeah, old news... like Halo 2 for Vista.
 
It looks great ... I can't wait. Unfortunately I'll have to unless a 360 falls out of the sky and lands in my lap. Hopefully the PC port doesn't take as long as it did with Jade Empire.
 
The 1st screenshot is weird, the main face is really detailed but the clothing looks like smudged.
 
Yeah why is the dude in the first screen so ridiculously detailed and the main guy looks so.....meh?

Wohooo!

I got a week paid vacation from my last job, and so I picked up the vacation check and I quit. :LOL: Maybe some of you have heard me complaining how much I hated that job.


I had just got off the phone. I already have a a new job starting next week making more money, and working more hours.


But I have the time to think about it... because another option for me is to find a low paying part time job - my dad and my brothers are willing to pay for me to go back to college. I have always wanted to be a game programmer.


If I do go with the new job, I'd have so much money, that I might just get a 360 so I can play some of the exclusive games.

I really want to play Forza2 and The Darkness and a few others. Then I'll be able to get Mass Effect too.


I'll probably just work at the new job for a little while (at least) and make as much money as I can, and save. Then go back to school when I get tired of this new job.
 
I still don't know why they bothered with Halo 2 on the PC, who's going to buy that crap now?
 
they should port this to pc, graphics is excellent.

That rather pisses me off. It's the only 360 exclusive I really wanted and I was pretty confident it would get ported to PC like all other Bioware games. Oh well, Bioware still has a PC RPG in development as well as an unannounced PS3 IP, so I'm not totally ****ed. When the 360 drops to the sub $200 range I might actually consider picking one up now though.

Hopefully it's just marketing speak for "don't wait to find out, buy it now." Kind of like the GTA PSP games were exclusive, with no intentions of porting ... until they got ported.

I don't know why everyone's complaining about portage. You guys get Dragon Age :|. Guess who doesn't?

But, Mass Effect should be a respectable counter-offer :D
 
Can't wait for Mass Effect. As for the PC port - Bioware said THEY weren't working on a port, it could be possible that the task will be given to another company.
