Considering how often the subject has brought up in the past, I'm waiting for a real official word before taking it seriously.

As much as I abhor consoles, I would be very interested in SEGA console. I like that they build arcade games and then consoles that can also play them. It's like 2 birds in one stone. They aren't the only ones to have done this, but regardless, no one else does that any more - probably because arcades are dead, but ANYWAY.

Pretty good system. Would be capable of some pretty killer shit.

Agreed. It'd be a beast and monstrously more capable than a PC with a similar spec.

Seeing as the PS3 and 360 are expected to last another 2-4 years a shiny new Sega console to shake things up would be great. Still, massive fist fulls of salt are required here! And even if we get a new console, Sega are a far cry from what they used to be. But imagine if they called it the Dreamcast 2, and it launched with Shenmue 3, Rez 2 and a Sonic game that wasn't shit!!! Picture NiGHTS on a machine that powerful ....

It's worth the pain to keep us aware of the big Sega shaped hole that is left in gaming today! As long as it lives on in our hearts there is hope - one day there will be a new Shenmue and it will be beautiful ....

But SEGA has been making fixed hardware dedicated arcade systems for years since the Dreamcast / Naomi platform became obsolete and they've never resulted in a console.
