Well guys, Im making a gaming pc for HL2 and battlefield 2.

Here is my current system, ill put all the products im keeping from my current and the new ones.

gig of pc3200----------keeping
120 gig hard drive----------keeping
NF7-S motherboard--------------getting rid of
geforce 5700 256--------------getting rid of
RAIDMAX case------------getting rid of
480 watt psu--------------- getting rid of

Anyway here is my new computer components.

Thats my psu im getting, every single review of this has been excellent and its 500 watt.

thats my processor, its the sweetspot in the pricerange, anything more IMO is not worth it at the moment.

Thats my new case, one question what does atx case mean?

---------------------------------------------------------------
Alright thats my system, its pretty awesome. Im going to buy some more ram and 2 new hard-drives and RAID them. Just let me know what you guys think and if you have any better products that I picked out let me know.

But for now, its going to be a kickass system.

I almost forgot, I just bought a EVGA geforce 6800 ultra.

Whats wrong with the 480w PSU and what brand is it? I would also go for a Winchester core rather than a newcastle. As for the motherboard you have picked its incompatible with the CPU. You need a socket 939 motherboard such as the K8N neo2 platinum. As for ATX its just the form factor. It means if you buy an ATX motherboard it will fit in an ATX case.

looks good to me, i also got that motherboard it's really begginer friendly, me being a beginner and all, i also got the 3500+ except winchester but i like your setup, it's gonna screem, good luck.

That is a terrible psu, i saw a review for it and it failed under their stress test. Even a generic 400 watt psu passed. They said that something started burning... If you buy a winchester from somewhere else, you can get it for the same price.

Yea, well IGN and many other sites highly reccomend that PSU and im sticking with it.

I need a bigger psu, simply because I want to know its there.

If you guys can provide a link where I can buy a winchester cpu for the price of the newcastle post it please. I want the retail also.

I've seen pretty good reviews on the Ultra X-Connect myself. Right on the voltage and everything. They haven't really been out that long though. No way to know if it will last 2yrs or not like an Antec. ;)

can i have ur processor???? pleeeeeaaaaazzzzeeeee????? lol

I JUST GOT A PAYCHECK BOOST!! Be prepared to get jealous. I updated my system. Ok here we go.

i have to say that's a nice settup you got there, i like your case alot. Good luck man.

Tight, i think it's a good idea i don't really like slowing down my computer with like 50 games either.

I have another 400 dollars to blow, does anyone have any ideas?

About your power supply, I would not recommend it, not by having experience with that certian one but by reading this thread and it really helped me decide which PSU to buy. Im not saying dont buy it but look into it before you do. (Ultra-X is on the not recommended list)

http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=792566

you can upgrade your proccesor to a 4000+ for that much money or you can get a monitor, depends on what your looking for... speed, looks, etc...

Another thing.... that motherboard supports SATA so why not get 2 SATA drives as they are much eaier to work with in RAID configurations.

Its not really the looks of the case im Interested in. Its the cooling, it comes with pretty much everything you need.

Damn those arnt Serial ATA drives, anyone have some reccomendations, I DO NOT want a raptor, way too damn expensive. I want a good HD at a good price. I want to buy 2

I already have a monitor, but I dont feel like waisting that much money on a processor that I wouldnt notice any difference over, so I upgraded to 3700.

Also the 3700 is a different socket, anyone have any motherboard suggestions with socket 754

About the PSU, Im not switching, I like how you only need to put the wires into the PSU that you need. Im going to try it out, alot of people are saying good things about these PSU

One word:

Powmax.

One of the biggest pieces of crap, EVER. Right down there with Deer and the like.

[Matt] said:
that case is ugly imo but whatever floats your boat... I would also say soltek motherboards are rather poo aswell...

Soltek is best bang-for-the-buck. Asus A8V Deluxe otherwise.

Another thing, get socket 939. More often then not, the 3500+ socket 939 (running ram in dual-channel) beats the 3700+ socket 754.

On the X-Connect:

They did have problems with them before, but apparently the newer revisions have it corrected.

Alright, so go the cheaper way and get the 3500 WINCHESTER, I cant find the retail version of it though, only oem. I want the heatsink thats included in the retail. I also want to know if I should stick with my 3200 gig of kingston, or buy new ram.

Anyway im open to suggestions, all but the PSU, the new x-connect is getting such great reviews so I dont really care what anyone says. My case is just so huge that I dont know if the cables from the PSU will reach.

Anyway, Im now getting the 3500 64 bit.

Im open to suggestions on RAM(not expensive please), Mobo

Thanx

i think that your ram will be fine but if you really want to upgrade get these, they have really low latencys, i think they are probably the best bang for your buck, and they got a lifetime warranty:Patroit pc3200

thanx foxhound, Do you have msn. I have a feeling Ill need your help when assembling this beast.

Also, I went with the 3500 OEM, so can someone put together a heatsink and fan combo for me?

Id also like to say thanx to everyone for the help.

Ladies and Gentlemen.. . .With the help of HL2.NET I have finished my computer here are the specs, Id like to say thanx for all those who helped.
