right now, i am using adaware, and zone alarm for firewall, and i updated adaware, and zone, but i still have popups, and i use avant browser(blocks popups) up to date, and i looked on remove programs on control plannel, nothing suspecious, and i tried looking through the c drive folder, nothing there, ran adaware many times, nothing, anyone got ne pro advices? and i formatted about 2 months ago

Use firefox as your default browser as that supports pop up blocking natively and is also far more secure than IE. You can also try using hijack this or spybot to identify and remove and spyware or other malicious programs.

^ will remove 99% of all pop ups ^

Ad-Aware for Spyware
ZoneAlarm for firewall
FireFox for browser (or at least IE with Google's pop-up blocker)
Norton/Symantec, or if you don't feel like buying anything, download AVG for your anti-virus needs.

Now you're good to go.

i dont think u guys even read my post......

Well, I did. My guess is that your Avant broswer (never heard of it :/) doesn't work well at blocking pop-ups. But if you switch over to something else that blocks pop-ups like FireFox or IE /w Google and you still get pop-ups, well, nothing much you can do. There will always be pop-ups that can get by blockers.

u see, the popups arnt comming from the browser, they are from the ie

Ad-Aware

SpywareDoctor

Spybot Search and Destroy

Bazooka Spyware Blaster

'PestPatrol' (awesome, but you gotta pay to make it auto-remove bad guys)

HijackThis

CoolWeb Shredder

are the ones that I use. All can be found on Download.com (or is it downloads.com?)

If youve got some kind of browser hijack running, then use HijackThis and CoolWeb Shredder and it will find it.

If you're going to BUY anti-virus software, though, visit www.trendmicro.com. Truly the best AV software out there.

Above that, I fully agree with your program selection. I'd like to add Spybot Search & Destroy to the list though.

I recommend running Ad-Aware in safe mode. A couple of weeks ago I ran it and found nothing. I then rebooted into safe mode and found 18 items.
