I always knew there was a good amount of people out there that think we should limit Muslims' civil rights, but I figured the number would be around 20%. According to this article, 44% of Americans support the limiting of American Muslims' rights, including government registration for tracking and inserting government agents into Musim communities and charities. I had more faith in the American people on this issue, but I guess I was wrong. Personally I feel this is disgraceful and embarrasing. Any thoughts from either side?

It's an AP article I pulled off of yahoo, and the study was conducted by Cornell University. If you actually clicked on the link, you would know that, now wouldn't you?

@Kerberos - they can call it a "nationwide survey" and just interview a suitable sample from each state/city/etc?

And now... a significant proportion (29%) want Muslims monitored...

I know I'm dramatising a little; but surely it's becoming quite clear in a short period of time many... controversial issues have arose.

I think its a disgusting idea, everybody should be treated as equals here, unless they are known criminals.

Unfortunately though, this cannot be the case everywhere. White people are not given any rights in the middle east(nationality doesn't matter... just as long as they're white skinned). They are targeted for death even if they are of the same religion, by many radicals over there.
