just a small possibility, I think the combine use anti-matter to power their citadels ect. like the said in hl2, dark matter or as i say it, antimatter is used. besides, its the most powerful energy in the universe and the combine must have surely mastered it. the core you saw in hl2 ep1 was silvery looking, just like how anti-matter would look like. which is why when the containment field fell, during the final scene of ep1, the antimatter reacted violently with the matter around it to form that hot ball of light and heat that you see. any thoughts ..lol?

Nope. They use some weird funky exotic energy. Antimatter just looks like normal matter... which happens to explode if it comes into contact with normal matter.

Anti-matter is not dark matter.
Dark matter is simply matter that is dark, and probably absorbs light, we dont know for sure.
Anti-matter does not exist, except when they produce tiny amounts of it by some complicated procedure.
It is a possible theory, though the energy used to produce it is economically inefficient, and i doubt even the combine could produce sufficient stable quantities.

Well, if they produce antimatter, they'd get less energy out than they put in. It's a consequence of the 2nd law of thermodynamics. Can't make a perfect machine and such. At best, it could be used as a battery or to transport energy.

If, on the other hand, you found a source of antimatter, you could use it as an awesome energy source. In the HL universe, one could possibly find such a source in an alternate dimension (like another Xen).

Anti-matter would not just look silvery. It would look the exact same as matter.

@Piers, I thought that there was, theoretically, the exact same amount of anti-matter in the universe as matter.
