the subdomain isnt too long and it doesnt put ads on your site . it also gives you PHP and MYSQL . it places a few restrictions on the number of DB's you can have but AFAIK its the only free host provider that actually lets you use PHP and MYSQL.

http://www.110mb.com/ ~ very good hosting! Great uptime and server speeds. PHP 5.1.4 (Zend Optimizer), MYSQL 5, and a ton of other stuff. 2gigs of space, 100gigs of bandwidth, no ad's, FTP.

The only bad thing would be the 10meg upload limit, however they do have links to a TON of file hosting sites.

They also give examples of there uptime:

just buy some, I used to go looking for good free hosting and it's damm near impossible to find. Payed hosting isn't that much just pay it and you will be far happier.
