Lately I've been listening to Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, and Paul Van Dyk almost exclusively, and I really like what I hear. I did a bit of searching and came up with Judge Jules and Above and Beyond, but not much else. So Musiclife2.net, any good artists like Tiesto or Van Buuren?

**** progressive. Just don't use that word, please. It spawned Oakenfold.

OT: Sasha.

He is the Prince of Cheese. Big sellout. Thinks he's Jesus. Charges more than any other DJ in the world for concerts, etc.

Ah, I see what you mean, one DJ I used to listen to became a huge sellout, 'twas disappointing. Oakenfold's music isn't that great to make him think he is God.

VirusType2-Quite a few of the mentioned artists are Hardstyle DJ's.
Party much?

Sorry. I've got tons and tons of music. My friend is a DJ.

For the genre I don't do any research sorry. I stick it one of about 6 catagories, like Electro, Electronica, Ambient, Trance, House, Psytrance.

Seems like every different group/musician/band has it's own genre now a days and it's pathetic. I just stick to the main basics, and Hardcore (Hardstyle?) should be one of them. I'm not surprised that they were categorized wrong because I'm hasty to label them, and ignorant to the vast amount of styles.

although I did kind of warn you:

for my opinion, Oakenfold is OK, but I can't think of one song where I was like, "THIS."

I didn't say they were bad, I quite like the ones I hear (Ziggy X, Zombie Nation, Tremoretc...)

Someone describe trance music to me and what it's good qualities are.

OT: Sasha.

Yes! I don't listen to too much trance, but this guy's Fundacion album (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fundacion-Mixed-Sasha/dp/B0007YXQ3M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1212485004&sr=8-1 ) is damn good. I've also got Involver, which is pretty good but quite different to the above (electro-clash, apparently).

As for Oakenfold and Judge Jules, you're probably best picking up some of their older mix sets (Clubbed vol 1 by the Judge is good - some proper bangers on there), I've heard they're newer stuff is cheesier (have managed to avoid Oakenfold's own stuff after hearing some naff bits and pieces of it).

EDIT: Check the set list of this... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Perfecto-Pr...=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1212485194&sr=1-3

**** progressive. Just don't use that word, please. It spawned Oakenfold.

I stumbled upon a few of Oakenfold's songs, all from the anime Vexille (haven't seen it BTW), and found them quite awesome.

I enjoy electronic music as long as it isn't too technoish and he provided that. I don't really care how highly he thinks of himself. I care about what I'm hearing. So I decided to check out some other trance artists from this thread and so far they're all too... put-on-white-gloves-and-dance (lol, sorry if this doesn't make sense :P).

I guess I'll look into this progressive trance you're speaking of. Any recommendations, anyone?

Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren are trance gods.

Pretty much everyone on Koola's list is pretty awesome.

OK, which artists provide trance without the standard OOMP OOMP (alternatively OOMPA OOMPA) in the background, that's supposed to show-off your uber-subwoofer?

Everything has a beat mate. Listen to Euphoric Trance for a more relaxed feel.

Do you listen?
