I just got 3dmark03 and ran it and i got 2669 my CPU got 316, is that good or no ?

and LOOK at my pic it says my gfx card is running at 398/203 MHz

and on my Radeon retail box it says runs at 400/400 MHz ?? arghhh

anyone know how to fix this ?

Well Radeon 9600's clock speeds are roughly near 400/400

They run (stock) 325/400, the 9600Pro oddly enough runs at 400/300

What is your card make?

Iirc that cards rams mhz is dubbled, so it's running at 406mhz. But you should be getting better marks in 3dmark, are you sure that you don't have AF or AA enabled in the drivers options? or have any other program running in the background taht's using up resources? You might also have alot of spyware running, that will slow your computer down.

If I'm not mistaken, you need to multiply the memory clock by two to get the actual speed, as it's DDR. That makes it within an acceptable margin of 400/400. (edit: bah, posted this too slow)

I'm not 100% on this as it's been ages since I last ran 3dmark (I'd rather use actual games to benchmark), so I'm not sure how it displays the memory clock.

If you want to be sure, you can use something like ATItool which displays your actual clock speeds. It also lets you overclock, but I don't know if you want that.

When you've got 256 memory there's more of it, so it takes longer to search it for stuff, when you have 128mb of memory it takes a shorter time to search for the stuff inside the memory.

No, it is a pro. They sell 2 versions of the 9600 Pro. One with a 400 MHz memory speed and one with a 600 MHz memory speed. On both versions the clock speed is still 400 MHz.

A vanilla 9600 has a clock speed of 325 MHz and a memory speed of 400 MHz.

Hmm well the pro should really have the 600mhz memory or it's not really worth it. Anyway, I'm not saying that 256mb memory is bad exactly. But anything worse than a 9800 can't use the 256mb memory properly, it's just not fast enough. Which is why 128mb 9600's are faster.

Listen to me. Listen carefully.

The 9600 Pro uses DDR (double data rate) memory. That means the real life speed of the memory is 200 MHz. However, in performance terms, its speed is 400 MHz. So you are basically doubling your number. If you set it to 390 MHz that is equivalent to 780 MHz - Most likely your video card would spontaneously combust.

The 9600 Pro you bought is supposed to have a core clockspeed of 400 MHz and a memory clockspeed of 200 MHz (but 400 MHz when doubled). You are perfectly fine. Don't touch your computer, it is operating at its proper speeds.

Sorry, but did you even read wtf we were saying? I'll try rephrasing.

The 3dmark thing (I assume that's where you get the speed you're talking about) says 200. You need to multiply this by 2 to get your real memory speed. This makes it 400, which is exactly right.

The memory speed doesn't suddenly halve. If you haven't been messing around with your card's speeds it's functioning exactly like it should.

Your 3dmark scores are a bit low because your CPU is slow.

To recap: nothing is wrong.

on one of the test in 3dmark03 i was getting like 2 fps for like 30 seconds .

I just bought a new CPY yesterday. Will my new CPU (athlon 3000+ 333fsb 512) Make me have better FPS in the test ?

And if my score was 2669 w/ athlon 1700+ 133 fsb, then what do you guys think my new score will be ?

Those scores are fine, infact your lucky. I had a similar setup but a faster processor and I got 2552.

this isn't a law but ussually when cards have 256mb of ram they have slower clock speeds. you could have 256 with the same clock speed as a 128mb card, but the price of the ram would be much higher.
