I think these guys are excellent. They put so much creativity and emotion into their music that I've got to respect them. Anyway, theyve got a new album coming next week, you can be sure I'll be buying it.

Yeah, I love The Mars Volta - top band! :D

I've heard a few songs off of their new album, sounds great so far - I'll be picking it up on the weekend :)

You must have heard almost all of them then, there's only 5. :p

Frances The Mute is definately one of the best albums I've ever listened to, and I'll be damned if an album comes along this year that's better. it kicks the bejesus out of De-loused in almost everyway.

That's impressive, because I think delouced is a brilliant album! Its insane that Frances the Mute is 78 minutes long, with only 5 songs, and concidering The Widow (the video is the stuff of nightmares if you havent seen it) is only around 4 minutes long, its like 4 songs over 70 minutes. I think their most recent shows have been in Europe, so any idea if they are going to tour America any time soon?

It's actually about six mintutes long, there's a couple of minutes of odd noise at the end that acts as a bridge into the next song. And the length isn't so hard to beleive when you realise that the last track is 32 minutes long. :D

Frances the Mute is superb, certainly one of the best albums I've heard in a long time. Specifically, L'Via L'Viaquez is one of the funkiest tunes on the planet.

L'Via L'Viaquez is just teh sex. But nothing beats Cassandra Gemini; it's just epic. It's everything and anything, all at once.

I can't wait to get it. I'm going home next week, so I'll finally be able to go to a real music store, as there are none near my college (ie only a walmart )

I agree--De-Loused, along with Refused's 'The Shape of Punk to Come,' are two of the most artistically brilliant albums I have ever heard.

I've been getting into Mars Volta recently after I heard "The Widow". They're quite good. I remember seeing a music video for De-Loused a year or two ago. Good stuff.

my current playlist consists of televators and inertiatic, they are great songs, have to say i didn't like the other stuff i heard from deloused, but i'll probably look into getting frances

I keep hearing about them everywhere I go. People say they're pretty technical and progressive, so logically, I'm going to check them out.

Ima come back to this when With teeth drops :D

I had never heard of em however.
checking out their site right now.

oh, listening to the widow, I saw the video for this on mtv. cool stuff

I just picked up Francis the Mute today and I must say that it is very good, but not like Deloused. I just think that Deloused was one of the best sounding albums ever and nothing can top it.

Currently listening to L'Via L'Viaquez though!

Check out Roulette of Dares, Take the Veil Cerpintax, and Eriatarka from Deloused; awesome songs.

Sorry to post twice in a row, just had to get that out.

I just got fances today and it seems a bit weird. not the music, but the album structure. for example the first 4 songs are apparently all one song, but instead of being parts of one song it seems to be the first song, then The Widow, then L'Via L'Viaquez then miranda. and the tracks that are actually supposed to be those songs aren't. A more clear example, i can click on the song titled The Widow, but it plays something completely different then The Widow

The songs and their respective movements DO NOT correspond with the actual track setup on the CD. It`s just Universal who ****ed up.

This is the tracklist as far as songs vs. tracks go.

1.Cygnus... Vismund Cygnus
2.The Widow
3.L'Via L'Viaquez
4.Miranda, that ghost just isn't holy Anymore
5.Cassandra Gemini I
6.Cassandra Gemini II
7.Cassandra Gemini III
8.Cassandra Gemini IV
9.Cassandra Gemini V
10.Cassandra Gemini VI
11.Cassandra Gemini VII
12.Cassandra Gemini VIII

how does that explain songs not being what they should be?

It doesn't, it was just a bit of trivia about the album.

ah ok then :p

i dislike the new album. 'de-loused in the comatorium' was awesome, but their latest work is too... much for me.

i cant stand listening to it.

Well I can't get enough of it. I especially like the part at the end of Cassandra Gemini, the saxophone lead up to the final "there's no light". I just love the anticipation the builds up for the final, triumphant chorus!

I've only DLed a couple songs that had The mars volta as the author, Son et Lumiere and Concertina...
I gotta say theyre very interesting, maybe I'll look for their music to buy sometime.

I saw them live when they supported RHCP, terrible... bloody awful. It was just a racket. But im sure there studio stuff sounds ok...i've kept away from it. crap band live though.

They are good for ambience music, there's only about 3 mins of each song I would like to listen to on a regular basis. Ah well, I love Muse and I really like the Mars Volta, so I must be drawn to pretentious bands :D

Really? I've heard that theirs is one of the best live shows ever.

I really hate the weird noises, its like the majority of every song, it really winds me up

That's what I've heard too. I guess I'll find out for myself when I go to to their concert at the end of the month.
