Title says it all really. Latest PC Gamer has a PC powered by 1 Gig of RAM, 2 x 512 meg 7800's (GTX i think) and an FX-60. It scored over 13,000 on 3D Mark.

So, does anyone have any tech reports / Prices / Specs on how the FX-60 is going to be?

hmmm... well, with the way pricing has been going with the other AMD CPUs, should be around $1000 or so

Well...my 4800+ is running as fast as this FX60. lol. I'm at 2.7Ghz until I get a better PSU.

There's a very trustworthy and thorough review right here.

Riiight, and I am sure your performance numbers were just as sweet in those apps. :rolling:

yea its been out........sadly I could only afford a x2 4800 dual core......not that im complaining, sure beats my old pentium4 2.66 ghz lol

I'm envious of you guys. While I would like to upgrade now, I think I'm giong to wait until Windows Vista launches. Prices should have dropped significantly by that time.

True. But both Intel and AMD have newer processors coming out by the end of the year. That should drive the prices down a bit. Maybe 100 bucks less than it is now.

I'm looking forward to hearing about AMDs 65nm processors, Intel's don;t sound that impressive

I haven't been keeping up with the latest computer hardware. Could you point me to an article or maybe give me your opinion as to what Intel and AMD are planning to offer?

Excellent. Thanks for the article.

What's wrong with Intel? They used to be at the top but they've been consistantly beaten out by AMD over the last 4-5 years it seems.

The top end FX products are not worth the money at all. For example the FX57, 600 odd pounds compared to 250 odd for a 4000+, and does the performance increase warrant it ? Not at all, especially as a very mild overclock will see them on equal terms. Unless you are a benchmarking fanatic and spend most of your time optimizing your pc to get into the top10 of the 3dmark, pi rankings etc then you will see little benefit from the extra 350 pounds you forked out.

Also, i wouldn't count intel out of the race for the next generation of processors.

Of course the prices will of dropped a decent degree by the time vista releases, which is why in all sensibility upgrading in the Fall of this year would be better.
