any one else having trouble logging into steam?

I really want to try HL2 DM, and Steam has been working just fine for a long time. now today, i cannot for some reason log in. it says that it is logging in, but it just sits there. I tried reinstalling steam, and just deleting the clientregistry.blob, but nothing is helping. this is really frustrating :frown: :frown:

Bizarrely, Steam seems to actually download the latest patch or something while saying it's connecting.

It took 5 to 10 minutes for it to connect on 512k broadband today for me as it downloaded something maybe 10 to 20 megabytes in size.

I'd leave it "connecting" for a while and see what it does.

If you have some non-Steam way of looking at your internet activity, have a look at it. I think you'll find it's very busy while it says it's only "connecting".

it is taking much longer then 10 minutes, and i am on much faster internet then 512. i guess i dont have much choice, so i will just let it go for however long...
