Just wondering if anyone else here listens to my sort of music.

I, on behalf of HL2.net, implore you to listen to <insert obscure probably-electronic artist here> instead of... that.

slipknot is good, but i like lamb of god and mudvayne more

They got some awesome riffs on them. But far too many members.

I had a passing affinity for their very first album back when I was a scowling angry teenager. Now that I'm a scowling angry olderman, and they're even bigger MTV darlings than they were back then, I can see their shallow angst for the juvenilia it is. Some OK rhythm sections, but bad riffs, vocals, lyrics, themes, image, attitude... everything. Use them as a stepping stone into much better metal.

No big fan of Slipknot, I think most of the songs are just pointless, however I do like a few like for example: Wait and Bleed.

Umm no thanks, I know what kind of music I like, IMO nothing tops Slipknot, they are an amazing band.

But yes they aren't every bodies cup-of-tea.

Slipknot were okay back in the day, I still actually like their old school stuff.

You know what the **** you need, son? Meshuggah.

I'm willing to bet you won't think so when you're older than 15.

Ok I'll bet you 10 virtual, non existant dollars that when I turn 16 I'll still love Slipknot.

I think I'd rather listen to Slipknot than Meshuggah. Bland, bland band and even worse live.

Musical tastes change quite often, I don't think you'd be able to guarantee that you would still like Slipknot.

Not for me it doesn't, I've loved Slipknot since I was 9, + they have a new album coming out next year, which hopefully means another world tour.

EDIT: Whoops, I f*cked that one up, my bad.

I used to like Slipknot when I was 14, and that liking passed after three to four weeks of listening to them. They seem pretty much like a teenie band to me. All the songs are catchy and simple-ish (No pro here, but for me it seems so). Plus all the images of "maggots" I've seen and the frickin' Youtube comments made by Slippie fans are enough to scare me away for good.
I don't think you have a bad taste in music. But personally I don't like Slipknot. If you have time you may want to check out Mastodon, I've been listening to them for a while now and so far they haven't gotten boring (make sure you check out their older albums, I didn't like the newest album that much).

Kinda simplistic for me. They're okay I guess.

Understood, thank you, I certainly will, thanks for the positive response! :)

EDIT: Holy crap! Mastodon are amazing, thank you for the recommendation :)

llLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLll

EDIT:

Hobopro is right about Mastadon, except I really liked their latest album, despite the dramatic change.

CHUG-CHUG-CHUGGA [odd time signature] CHUG... CHUG CHUGGA. CHUG. WIDDLYYYY CHUG.

Man, I loathe Meshuggah. :p I left their live show to go watch Anthrax who were very good.

Each to their own, I suppose.

You know what band is terrible?

Bring Me The Horizon

More like Bring Me The Endorsement Cheque

Actually, I really quite liked Bring Me The Horizon's latest album, Suicide Season. The stuff before that was pretty woeful, but this was a much more ''mature'' album, if you will, when compared to the blatant trend-hopping generic death metal attempt they played before.

I recommend it. There's a STUNNING track on it which features the guy from Architects called The Sadness Will Never End. Love it.

The only slipnkot song I like is Psychosocial, and only because of the riff.

tbh I haven't listened to the latest album, they opened for Gigantour once.

ugh.

I LIEK PANIC AT THA DIS...

ah forget it.

Slipknot's older material was not bad, but I hate the sound of falling cash on their latest album.

Emo isn't a look. It's a dead genre from the late 80's. If emo had to have an ''image'' (and I cringe at the very idea of being either important to anyone to something to generalize upon) then it wouldn't be that.
