Is there any point at all?
Lets say you had a budget of £300. You already have a very good CPU and plenty of Ram.

Do you buy a Physics card and GPU with the £300, or simply spend £300 on a high end card?

Buy the high end card, you won't see physics cards kickin arse for a while.

High end gfx card most definately. Barely any games utilize a physics card right now. ;)

Better yet, spend it on booze. Or give it to me.

I wouldn't spend any money on a physics card. At the moment it's mostly just fancy particle effects. The graphic card companies will be adding similar capability on their cards. Can't remember the game but they did a test and a dual core CPU was able to keep up without a physics card (having the 2nd core do the effects). Although the game didn't allow for cloth effects without the physics card.

I wouldnt bother getting the Physics card. Go for a very nice graphics card if I were you.

You could also wait a while for the GeForce 8800 (or ATI equivalent) to come down in price and have the capability to run DX10 games when they appear. They are released very soon and I bet prices will come down in a month or two.

QFT. Its only a matter of time before its all integrated in some way or another. Will we see the same on the next generation of consoles? Who knows?
