I love my Samsung 940BF.
You don't need to know anything other than:
The Samsung 226BW comes in two types: A and S panel.
S-panel = good
A-panel = bad
So if you can be sure that you are getting an S-panel, get it! Otherwise BEWARE!! OoooaaahaooOOO...
I was in a similar position, I really wanted to get the 226BW but I just couldn't risk dealing with the different panels so I got the new HP 2207. The stand on the 226BW also sucks.
I have the Samsung 940BW on my other comp, what is the difference?
ah I wasnt aware the new 226bw was s-panel ..all other 22" lcd use chi mei panels which are tn panels (the 225BW is a chi mei panel) : 6 bit, 16.2 million colours; good for gaming not so good for movies/colour reproduction ...is the 226bw true 8 bit/16.7 million colours? I cant find panel type information specifically on how you can tell which 226bw is S-panel or not
your monitor is widescreen his is not
Once you have received the monitor, in the back of the screen; it'll say something like: S-Panel (Model: 226BW [R] S) A-Panel (Model: 226BW [R] A)
Some people (Including me) confuse the panel type with Newegg product information on Newegg website which states like this (Panel: a-si TFT/TN) which is not the actual panel type information, matter of fact that information has nothing to do with monitor. That information shows nowhere on Monitor information panel plate.
As far as this monitor is concerned (though I can't compare with anything else except my old 213t) I'm extremely happy with it (Except the crappy stand), whether watching a movie, pictures or playing games.
Ghosting is Zero and nonexistence.
Good Luck.
crap it's the dell panel lottery thingy all over again ...in other words the only way is to buy it and hope for the best ...I mean even if I returned it in hopes of getting the s-panel I'd most likely get a replacement from the same distribution centre meaning it will be the same as the one I just returned
How long does a typical good monitor last actually, before the quality of the picture drops below acceptable limits.
