Hi All,
I have been having game freezes when running either Counter-Strike Source or Day of Defeat Source since upgrading to the Catalyst 6.8 driver last month. Yesterday I updated to the 6.9 and got the same result.
If I do a clean unistall and revert to the 6.7 or earlier - no problem. Incidentally, if I clean boot and play single player games with the 6.8 or 6.9, such as HL2 Episode One - again no problem.
Ordinarily, I would simply revert and forget about it. However with my old beast of a machine both the 6.8 and the 6.9 show a 200+ point increase in 3DMark05 (from approx 2650 to 2865). I am also getting slightly higher frame rates in FEAR and Quake 4. I also think (although it could be wishful thinking) that Episode 1 is running smoother as well.
Anybody else had a similar problem?
AMD XP 1800+ (1.53GHZ), ATI 9800 PRO 128MB, 1024 MB PC 2700 333MHZ RAM. MSI 6712 KT400 MOBO, VIA 5.10 drivers, Audigy LS - current drivers.
