Every thing else is pretty. Its playable but annoying more than anything else. It also does it in multiplayer, but don't get me started on multiplayer.

To beer the cause of and solution to many of lifes problems

i really cant think of any solution for ur problem first time ive seen this

I don't think your card is fried.

I used to experience that when texture quality was set to high (I also have a 9800Pro). I have since upgraded from 512 PC2700 to 1 gig PC3200. I reformatted and not only was that issue gone but I don't get any more (well, barely) of the infamous hiccups (everything set to high, even sound).

If your texture quality is set to high try bringing it down to medium and see if it disappears. Try the Catalyst 4.12 betas if you haven't already (http://www.ati.com/support/infobase/4701.html) but use driver cleaner after you uninstall your drivers(http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3214.html).

I remember having similar glitches years ago when I overclocked my old Radeon 7500 and it fried, stoped working.
*flushed $200 down the drain*

Oh well, live and learn, eh?

i dont overclock, and it happens in the doom3 demo, with the graph options changed. also i have it in another system with the card (i changed the card over) the system worked fine (medium textures) on the first day hl2 was released and it hasnt been net connected since the 1st day release, so im thinking hl2 fried my card, ill get a refund or a new card, kind ARIA ( http://www.aria.co.uk )

edit: oh, and before yesterday hl2 was working fine, so because of that im thinking that hl2 or css fried it

Ok here what i've done so far. I've downloaded and used the latest Omega drivers, turn anti-alising off, and update the AGP drivers (usally main cause of graphics problems) it's help a little but the glitches still come back. ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!! :sniper: need to shot something

To beer the cause of and solution to lifes many problems

try a differant graph card if you can, if it is the gard, try to return it to your retailer/manufacturer as faulty

Right installed the 4.12 beta drivers at it works fine so far. Cheer Rumblefish, The DJ and White Zero for your wise words.

Try messign with the graphics settings, turn them down, turn them off, turn them up, i had facial problems on with my radeon 9200. but i messed with the grapics and it is fine now.

I have exactly the same problem too sometimes.
Seems a random problem, I have installed the 4.12B drivers and it still shows up. With the 4.11 drivers, the problem screwed my whole screen, but with the 4.12B drivers, only my gun is sometimes messed up. I have a Radeon 9600 pro, 128mb and I run everything on high, smooth. It is definately not a broken card, also not overclocked.

I had this same problem with my Radeon 9800 Pro with any drivers past Catalyst 4.9. That version, I think, just so happens to be the last driver version before ATI included that A.I. I downloaded the latest Omega drivers and turned OFF the A.I. Voila, all graphics glitches gone. It even RUNS better, and I bumped the antialiasing to 4x, though that might be the Omega tweaks at work...

This can also be done with the Catalyst Control Center, but I've heard too many bad things about it, so I opted for the Omegas.

Bunk response.

It's not a fried card guys... I have the same problem with my 9600... exactly the same problem. I've tried lotsa stuff, the thing I found to work decently is to turn the shader detail to low. It takes a lot of wow factor from the game but everything runs smoother. I would bet it's a problem with ATI drivers pre 4.12. I'll try the betas maybe, or I might wait for the full 4.12 package to come out so I can not worry about other bugs.

I don't OC my card either... straight factory settings with nothing cranked. I bet we'll see this issue bulleted in the next Catalyst release notes.

The odd thing is that these shader problems always occured with the black dude from the begining of the game. His face was always rainbow pixilated. Further on in the game more polygons fell prone to this problem. I'll post some screeners of mine as well.

Every driver is updated on my system. Only HL2 does this. It's not a faulty card.

so how come my 4.9 worked fine untill one fine day, and it happens in doom3 and during video playback, not just a hl2 problem? any ideas?

i put shaders to low, and got 4.12Beta, and it didnt work, still dodgy as before...

rf

I have the exact same problems. hope hl2 didnt kill my card. I've tried everything. Check out the screen shot, thats how it looks when I play.
