I mean ok it was a big thing, HUGE. Super sad that it happened but its been 1 month. We have to get over it someday, i hear about it almost EVERY day on the news in BC, Canada. It's getting kinda irritating for me.

Here in america, We dont care about the suffering of others. it hasn't been on the news for weeks.

Maybe we should be thankfull another disaster hasn't struck to talk about...

yeah it isn't as if things that kill and ruin the lives of more than 100,000 people dont happen all the time. :|

Not really been hearing much about it actually. Nothing beyond what I would expect.

I hear it every day on the news, if not every day only every 2 days

yeah your random threads are beginning to irritate me too. I'm sure all the families who lost people are happy to get over it in a month.

If you don't like hearing about it, stop watching the news and posting threads about it.

Yes I am getting tired of hearing the word "tsunami" I've heard it over 250 times since the disaster.

I hate it when they talk about issues that affect the lives of millions of people for more than a month.

Grr, it makes me so angry! Damn them for wasting my precious, non-disaster-affected time!

Quoted for emphasis.

As my other Brit counter-parts have said - it seems to have faded in the news. Things like this always happen. One day you're hearing about the lives of people in Zimbabwe and then a fortnight later it stories like that get relegated to the smaller stories in the depths of newspapers (usually the spreadsheets - tabloids forget far quicker). Maybe a ten second snippet on the evening news. <Sighs>

Yes, we don't care. We just spent millions to buy pinball machines and prostitutes. [/sarcasm]

Prostitute machines and pin balls.

Now thats a contribution to the aid effort.

I honestly thought it went to far when we had our 100th charity begging me to give money :|

the promised 350 million from america is nothing compared to say Australias 764 million? Why is the richest nation in the world giving such a ridiculously small amount?

350 million is nothing? If we didn't care, would we have given aid at all? 350 million is what the government is giving, what about the citizens of the US? Last time I checked, 350 million is a ton of money, do we always have to be #1 in everything? Just because another country out contributes us, doesn't mean that our contribution means nothing..

Well when countries that dont have half the wealth we have pledge more than us (not saying australia) it does mean that "our" contribution is nothing. this is all aside from the fact that they will never see 350 million dollars ever, they may get half that if they are lucky.

Australia won at charity... and thats what really matters.

You under estimate the country you live in. I'm sure they will get 100% of the money we promised. Maybe 350 million is all we needed to give? With tons of other countries making contributions like japan(500 million), and as you say australlia, how much money can we possibly spend? The amount of contributions has reached the billions, and i'm sure a disaster as large as this, will get the majority of the money promised. Just because the USA is a rich country doesn't mean they can always shell out a ton of money. How much money are we spending in IRAQ alone? Too much. How much do you feel like paying in taxes this year, or in future years when you're old enough to pay taxes? I'd rather not argue, but your negativity kind of gets on my nerves :|

Edit : Congrats burnzie, you win a trophy

I dont underestimate the country I live in take a look at say, Russia who is still waiting to see the money promised to them so they could rebuild their economy after america came in and literally wiped out their industry?

I pay taxes right now (I am eighteen).

So because of the unjust war in IRAQ (I can capitalize too), we cant give anymoney to the important issues such as the tsunami?

Yet you say ANY money. Please get it through your head that we have given 350 million to the tsunami aid. 350 million DOLLARS is not pocket change. That is more then most people make in a life time. Have you not heard on the news about our distributions from helicopter to the victims of the tsunami? We've already spent a pretty penny on aid already, 350 million is a fund, it is theirs already, we just get to spend it over a period of time. You're just narrow minded. You've made up your mind that we've given 0$ to the tsunami aid, and we don't give a rats ass about anyone but ourselves. There is no point in arguing with you. Whatever :rolling:

I left out a more whoops. Christ, I am the one who brought up the 350 million dollars in the first place, so get it through your head that I obviously know that we donated 350 million dollars I also know that most people dont make that much in their lives. Alot of people dont make one million dollars in their lives. So if we donated on million dollars that would be a "pretty penny". Just because 350 million dollars is alot of money to you doesn't mean it is sufficient to help those in need

HAM

You guys need to cool it I think...

Just chill.... We all gonna be litte fonzies...

it is also worth mentioning that australia is much , much closer to where the disaster occurred, so the whole thing would have hit a little closer to home. This would encourage the government of australia to put more into the relief effort.

I guess you don't see my point. Just try and think about what I said. It's not hard to understand :upstare:

You twat, just because other countries are donating more than us doesn't mean we should donate less. Your point is moot.

anyway heyyyyyyy! we are fonzies now we must chill.

Not the point I was trying to make. To clear it up, we do not need to make a larger contribution. The world has done enough to aid the victims, only time and adjustment will help the victims of the tsunami now. You're just too much of a fool to realize that the USA obviously cares a lot about the tsunami disaster. Just because we didn't make the largest contribution doesn't me we don't care. Don't be a dick and insult your own country that you live in like that, it's rude and it makes you look like an ass.

Also remember that what you see on TV is controlled by a select few.So maybe they have moved on, but America hasn't, and won't move on until it's over. Just because you don't care doesn't mean your country doesn't.

Sorry Burnzie, Happy Days was before my time

I guess we should just agree to disagree

You have not seen happy days?
Just say heyyyyy like the fonz!

Dude, when like half a million people die you don't just write it off and say its annoying to hear about it after a month. I mean holy ****ing shit, do you realize how many people that is?

Wow, this thread has gone down the crapper.

Close it before it gets out of control.

I think this thread was in the crapper when it was posted, but HEYYYYYYYYY ( I think I am taking this fonzie thing so far as to almost sound insulting to burnzie, no offense burnzie)

To the original poster : How is the news annoying to you? You're not interested one bit how the families are coping or when the coasts will be rebuilt? Saying it's annoying to see it on TV everyday is insensitive, such a big disaster will not dissapear in a month. Hell, even 9/11 comes up quite a few times on the news, and it's been 4 years, and that wasn't nearly on the same scale this was on.

To Kommie : I've seen Happy Days, but I was about 9 years old and they were just re-runs on Nick at Night. I don't even remember half the characters' names :P

DarkSin, there would be no point in telling him how much the families suffered and blah blah

The Fonzie has you covered!
