Anyone else watch the Olympics Opening Ceremony?

I thought it was great...but I won't be watching too much of the actual olympics themselves...I will watch my favorite sports like the freestyle and the bobsled and of course...hockey. But that's about it. What about you guys?

Was I the only one that felt that Rammstein probably inspired the first part of the opening ceremony?

The anvil and stuff reminded me a little too much of a Rammstein concert.

Watched the second half of it. And I've come to the conclusion that the opening ceremonies of the Olypmics are a massive waste, like CrazyHarij said.

It's a masturbatory elitist traditional ceremony with absolutely no bearing whatsoever on what goes on before or after, and only serves to remind you that yes, the Olympics are here again, and no, they aren't spending that money on useful things next time.

I hate the Olympics. All right, some random guy just ran a hundred meters slightly faster than a similar guy from some other country, and came close to running it slightly faster than anyone else before. And that girl over there, she can swim really fast, faster than you anyway, and she won a swimming race. Cool. Why not do something better?

Rofl, That's exactly how I felt when I saw it.

I recorded it and listened to Du Hast when rewatching, and it almost synched perfectly... up until the torch lighting.

The opening ceremonies were pleasing to the eye, but really served no significant value to the games themselves(which I never watch.)

But to each his own I guess.
