Anyone Got Working Crab-Synths?

I cant seem to get Crab Synths or Mortar Synths to work in any map. "create_npc npc_crabsynth" doesnt work in-game either, all of them gives me a "Tried to create unknown entity crabsynth!" message. Anyone know whats up with this? Or a work around?

They don't exist as seperate entities. I'm sure that they use a Cycler or Prop entity to do it in the singleplayer game.
